Currently camped in the showgrounds @ Yelarbon, 50km east of Goondiwindi.
Last year we stopped here on our return from Boonah to Melb. Then it was $10/pn for a powered site, This year it's $15, but still great value. And it's big enough to NOT be crowded, despite six other units being here: vans, whizz-bangs, m/homes... :? no tents yet. :?
Free showers & toilets are available, in the old Railway Station building which has been moved to the site.
There are sheds around the grounds being developed as museums for specific aspects of rural life: the Jail is finished; the Farm Machinery shed is filled; the Home Life shed is nearly complete...
A great place to stay, and we're giving back to the rural communities which welcome Grey Nomads.
In business jargon, a 'Win-Win' situation. :P
Regards & God bless,
Ray

Hi Bruce.
Just going to Willow Spring Station.
They have a web site and also if you look for SKY TREK it is the same place but a track where you can drive around and see the sites. It takes 6 to 8 hours and you need a 4WD with low range as the track is a challenge for anyone who tries it the first time. skytrekwillowsprings.com.au.
I will be there till about August as far as I know.
Regards
Brian

For the next 11 weeks we are now camped where we are house sitting in Kungala, not far from Gradton, NSW. it was an eventful journey from Little Styx, as we decided to take the Orara Way....now, in the books it says its a sealed road...WRONG! It's a very twisty, turny, road, very steep in places, only room for one vehicle....so when we stopped to take a photo the ONLY other vehicle going our way caught up with us, and we had to somehow let him by. I was in a state of controlled terror which is a shame cos it's an amazing road....although they are closing it the rest of this week because parts of the road has collapsed down the sheer drop! Hmmmm....when we arrived at Kungala Road we got to a wooden bridge which was flooded, couldnt see the condition nor was i willing to wade in to see if there were any obstacles...it was a tiny bridge....so Greg had to reverse the rig over a km back to the main highway! Then we had to drive another 50 or so Kms to come in to the road from the Pacific Highway!

The house sit is actually a kelpie sit, the house is not finished so the owners are living in a huge shed. They have made it very comfortable, but it has a only a small gas heater and so we will be living mostly in the caravan.

The drive to the property is narrow dirt...read mud, there's been so much rain! The phone doesn't work as its Optus, but Telstra Internet works so if anyone wants to join us for a while, it's 350 acres, tucked away....quiet except for the trains which don't seem to run very frequently. Just pm us!

We are settling in nicely, we are taking the owners to the airport tomorrow and then we will be able to do some exploring....I think I'll try to find some cheap wellies, too!

Cheers
Dee
....and the non typing Greg!

Here's some photos from the last few days.... Three are of the Little Styx free camp which I have to say is much nicer ....in fact, stunning....when its not raining. There are some terrific walks in the area and we plan to go back there after our 'sit'

Dot, not a word! The Chinamen jinx seems to have departed but let's not tempt fate!

Went to Coffs today and dropped off the property owners at the Airport....and Macs the kelpie doesn't seem to be missing them..yet!

More photos of where we are....the house is unfinished but there's a huge shed with all mod cons, the kelpie is a real sook, the road to the end of the property is 2 Kms, Alloa bit damp at the moment!

Oh and there's lots of veggies growing....
Does anyone know what to do with a banana plant to protect from frost?
Oh and what's the vegetable on the table? I put the apple there to show the size.

....and looks like we'll be having pumpkin til it comes out of our ears!
