Swisslulu wrote:Quite full, Ros. We arrived shortly after 1.30 pm and all the level spots along the water were taken so we parked up further south with just a glimpse of water. But as we're only staying one night it's not an issue. The CAW book says it's 72 hours but the sign coming in says 48 hrs. It certainly looks like a few have been in residence for quite a while. We are filing away all these locations for future reference. Fuel at the independent in town was $1.90. Fortunately we only needed 40 litres to fill up.
Thanks Lesley.... Not liking the sound of the fuel costs, but have to put up with this sometimes. Keep travelling well

You wait til we're on the move again! Now that I've worked out how to add photos!

At the moment, we have dog sitting challenges!

......isn't all good!

We are as you know, shed and dog sitting in Kungala. Property is 350 acres of bush, railway track not fenced, whole property Unfenced. Dog not trained to a leash....dogs name is Macs btw....doesn't respond to commands unless he feels like it. A totally loveable, friendly, people loving dog. When we wander about the property he is never far away.

Owners instructed us to put him on a chain when we went out...also at night. He has a cosy kennel.
So...yesterday we had to go to Coffs, as Greg needed to get the car to Peddars for a look see. Dog was nowhere to be found. So after calling, searching etc., we decided to leave anyway. Found him in the middle of the road, which is after 1km of dirt drive from the property.

This morning we had a visit from a local...not so local...farmer, bringing Macs back....he had been 'playing' with the pet goose!

We took Macs to the beach, as the owners told us he loved it there...off the leash he rushed up to a child and bowled the child over...just being playful.....so back on the leash he went.

We have this responsibility for the next 10 weeks, gord help us!
We have rigged up a cable run for Macs, but he just crouches at the far end and whimpers.

The property is lovely, and we will see it through! We are keeping the owners informed. We are not being paid so I don't think we need liability insurance...or do we?

We have learnt a few lessons here.....

Cheers
Dee

Just another case of people that shouldn't have animals. Poor dog, it needs work, wrong dog for it's situation.. For it's own safety keep Mac on the long running lead and take him for runs when you go for your bike ride (keep him on lead at all times but be careful he doesn't get tangled in your bike) go slow just enough for Mac to trot along. :D

Dot thanks for the advice but he would drag me off the bike ....also, he chases cars...probably thinks they're cattle! They had a girl pup too but she went missing and one of the four trains a day killed the poor thing.

Ijust don't know! What we are doing now to keep him alive seems so cruel!

Hugs

Experience is a wonderful thing. It helps you recognise a mistake when repeated.
