Imported 5th wheeler in May Wander Non complying

Post by oldtrack123 »

RE: Non compliant 5th in the latest Wanderer

Hi
Just had a good read of that article
It has other non compliance problems TOO, I wonder what has been done with the gas side

It is using non Aus approved 110V electrics through a step down transformer
A definite non compliance .

NOW how did that get thru???
Ooh another dodgy compliance certificate of course!!!
It is still going on!!!
SADLY ,another owner conned .
Anyone know Helen Ross Q59664, to let her know she has been sold a NON COMPLYING unit despite any paperwork she may have

Now the owner's son intend to get a 110V inverter to run those non approved 110V appliance when away from mains power!!

I see a foot note at the bottom of the article referring to Collyn's article on imported RV
Perhaps the owner& son should read that !!

Maybe she imported it herself and therefore can use it but cannot resell it unless to a dealer who has to bring it up to standard before he can sell it.

That would only apply if she had actualy owned it in the USA
But which ever way she has problems ahead

Yeah but in Qld you also have "Claytons surgeons" I would rather have things changed for the safety benefits.. On another note, before we started our bus conversion, we were told by the engineer we employed that if we had of had the "conversion" done in Qld (as we had planned) we would have to have a lot of the structural stuff redone as it would not pass down here..

Dot, Rules is rules. That's why we have Australian Standards for a bunch of important things. Not sure about the rest of Oz, but up here a lot of folk drive around in their Left hand drive 'Yank Tanks'. I haven't seen a LHD motorhome on QLD plates yet but I'm sure I will soon enough. There seems to be a few different rules here than for the rest of Oz. Or maybe it's who you know...... surely not in Qld.

There are some extremely high quality motorhomes and caravans constructed in Qld :D :D and off course there are the other standard as well    . But the OP here was about imports and unfortunately that is a whole different story

I own one of the "high quality" motorhomes manufactured in Queensland. Its amazing what shortcuts I have found hidden and clearly there from build date!
In terms of the OP, this was done to death on a couple of other forums. I recently stepped into an import of similar shape and size that had the door on BOTH sides to sort that one out. The wiring issues have also been well discussed. There is and was a lot of ASSumptions made about the van and the article
