Dometic 3000 Plus Air-Con -

Post by Ros20549 »

Hi. I know there has been a lot said about this air-con and we unfortunately have one installed in our 18th month old van, the darn thing has not worked as it should have from day 1, like everyone else it only brings the temp down by about 3deg, my little 12volt van works better... :x :x Now with the OK from Dometic we had it to a air-con place to day to have a look at it, so far he can find nothing wrong... :o

My question is what has been the outcome for everyone who has had the same problem and how was it fixed, just about to ring Dometic again to see where we go from here... Not at all happy, we are about to head north in 2 weeks. looks like the fans will be getting a work out.

Cheers and thanks Ros.

I had 2 of these and the best fix I could come up with was to pull them out!!! Replaced with one Mitsubishi inverter split domestic unit, it's better on it's own in every way.

Pull it out, put it on Gumtree, and get a Coleman installed in the roof hole

Ros,

Haven't had a close look at mine... but it does look identical (googled it) even down to the remote.

Currently sitting in Kalgoorlie where the day temps have been around 16 - 17c & overnight temps down to 4c... the heating side works just fine.

Earlier in the year the cooling side was used with equally satisfying results.

Thanks everyone for your reply's.. No joy for us for the moment, due to the cold weather in Ballarat they are unable to really give the air-con a good test, so far all the things they have checked seem to be OK, so we are going away without the air-con :( :( Dometic and us are keeping notes and it goes back to the workshop when we return in Oct/Nov. will be out of warranty by then but have told Dometic it WILL be a warranty issue....So we will see. Just hope my little 12v fan does the job and it does not get to hot.

Cheers Ros.

Ros, drop who ever you have been dealing with in Dometic an email to at least have something on record as to your warranty "agreements"

Thanks Dot all done have made notes taken names, date and time of calls and sent an email with all history, also sent the same to our dealer who sold us the van it was on his suggestion that we contact Dometic and stick with it until we get results. He is willing to go into bat for us if we get nowhere, so its just a waiting game now until we get back in late Oct.

Cheers Ros...

PS. Will PM you in a couple of days with our plans...Still a few things to get sorted.....

Well no joy again with another Dometic product, second day out on our 4months trip and the 12 volt side of the fridge/freezer has decided not to work Gzzzzzzzzzzz not happy  , we can still operate on 240 and gas so the thing can wait until we get home or find a Dometic fridge service centre somewhere during our travels.. What else is going to break down :?: the van is only 17months old.
Who ever let Murphy out please take him back we don't need him..

Cheers Ros.
