G'Day All,
No sure where this one should go.... need insulation material to cover the interior of the oven recess box/cupboard. Any ideas appreciated. Closest I have come up with so far is exhaust lagging but would prefer it in sheet form rather than strips.

Fire blankets would give you the primary layer of insulation in sheet form, but if you do a Google hunt for industrial insulation suppliers you will find a heap of products that will do the job as well. with the steelworks down sizing so much down here all the companies that suplied that sort of stuff have shut up shop, but I'm sure they will still be around some where. I remember there was a thick white semi solid stuff that you soaked in water and could mould it into shape, we put it inside the turbo heat shields, yellow hot cast steel inside yet you could touch the outside stainless sheet, yet it didn't burn the material at all.

You could try some fibro or villaboard from a 1960s-70s home.

This stuff here below. Want to make sure and insulate the oven. Just above the oven there will be a slide out kitchen bench extension. Then above the slide out extension are the hot plates. Don't want to take a chance on warping or burning the laminex on the slide out so going to insulate the hot stuff to stop it.

Re: Oven insulation material.
Fitted the ceramic insulation material around the oven compartment that I purchased from ebay. Brilliant stuff to work with, cuts with a Stanley knife and easy to fit into place and quite dense. Haven't tried it out with the oven working as yet. Bride assures me the insulation material wasn't necessary as it won't be used.....
