Did you note it was from 20/12/13 to 06/02/14.

Most of us would have had them long before that. :| :| :|

Love the wording "Test before Use- Do Not Use If Test Fails"  helloooooooooo would you be sort of dead if it failed??

HI Dot
All RCDs should be checked regularly
EVEN domestic ones

Quite, Easy no risks ,just push the "TEST BUTTON"
IT should Instantly .then RESET it
IF it does not trip instantly ,time to call an electrician ;)

In the case of portable units THAT recomendation makes a lot of sense as they are subject to abuse.

I would also suggest that whenever you use a CP power outlet to TEST THEIR RCD .
IF it does not trip find one that does & report the FAULTY one to the CP anagement

Before you send him out Dot, every clock, TV, microwave, etc., will have to be reset afterwards. Electrocution may be an easier option.

Now there is an idea  asking him to do it now  Then I could afford to pay someone to reset all of those things ;)

Wouldn't you have though someone by now would have invented a "saving device" to save these things in the event of a blackout or having to turn the power off. Autos have a saver so why not 240v.

There are still a lot of old houses in SA that do NOT have them installed yet.
Tell him he's not senile if he can't find it!!
I double check mine in the MH, the boat & at home.
I have a device I can plug into each power point that firstly tells me if it's wired correctly & then I can press a test button that has 3 settings for "leakage".
bit, big bit & a lot!
