Cleaverville Beach Campsite W.A.

Post by Keith Morris »

"tanks" here---
Who plans to be at CLEAVERVILLE WA, July/August 2014
So far the list reads:-

DAPope
Dot & George
Boblebago
? pet els
John M
tanks
? Bob n Bev

"tanks" aims to be North for the Winter, spending 1 month at the 40 Mile Beach campsite which is 70 km South of Karratha, and then stay for another month at Cleaverville, which is 20 km North of Karratha.
I will have around 3 months in the North to escape the Wheatbelt Winter, so I may even nend up at Broome for a month after Cleaverville.
My line of thought is that with Cleaverville being only 20 km [about a 15 minute drive] from Karratha, I can trip into town and get an Ice Cream and replentish my fresh food supply, water, fuel, etc.---just like going to the Supermarket in Perth, only far less to drive.

I am thinking that it would be a good idea to "reserve" several sites close together [if possible] as I have been told that Cleaverville is a popular place to park for a while. While it appears to be a first come-first served place a talk with the Caretaker may assist to have an area just for us Forum Members.

YOUR THOUGHTS PLEASE
"tanks"

With fees set at $7.00 a night, or $135 a month it is an inexpensive low cost parking area , and being on the edge of the Indian Ocean it sounds like a great place to spend an extended visit.

I'm now 87 years old, having experienced another birthday, and I'm still living in WA, single (gave up looking), white hair, no teeth, no money, no worries.
I plan to have another birthday next year.

As far as i know, its first up, best dressed. There are more sites available in August than July. Our plan is to get in, get a spot, then find who is where and if they have a better spot, then move closer. We hope to have the pajero on an a frame by then, so that will do us for the shopping trips and watertopups. From what i can see, sitehopping is quite common.

40 mile beach is nice :-). The only time we have been there was in the winnebago we had, got stuck on a soft bit of sand. The f250 that snatched us out made an interesting time of it! Dont think it would have managed the swagman

:? Sounds painful!

Joke from the '70s:
Lounge Lizard sidles up to a beautiful blonde after both had attended a Peace Rally.
His pick-up line is a little different, trying for a score: "Say babe, ever been picked up by the Fuzz?"
She bats her eyelashes at him and whispers, "No, but I bet it's painful!"

We should be pretty close to Cleaverville Beach in July. We have booked into Osprey Bay (Cape Range NP) for 3 weeks in August. Will you be near 'Honda City' (near the caretaker) or in the free range camp sites?
