Re: Gas Bottle Swap
Actually Dot, there's nothing shitty about it, no dirty hands or smells, except when you cook so they tell me. They say if you just use methane from your septic, your gas will smell like a dunny, but when combined with biogas which is odourless, it cancels out the smell and the people I talked to put some pleasant herbs in their gas storage tank which they say helps a lot.
I've seen it all in action and was pretty impressed, there was an odour, but not offensive This all new to me and won't know the truth until made one and used it. Been pretty wet and cool down here, lots of rain the last week. So been reading up on different digesters and will make one when we get back. Still not sure what and what not to use in it, some say yocan use something others say you can't. Climate and weather would have a bearing on suitability, when it's all togethe and functioning, will let you all know if it works week enough.
Never know may be able to turn your black water tank into a gas producer, when you want more gas, just take baked beans or chic peas with beer and gas a plenty.

Slowhand, Just a word of warning. Methane is a highly volatile odourless gas. I'm not telling you how to suck eggs, but it's pretty impressive when it goes bang.
Cheers

Re: Gas Bottle Swap
Been slowhand since my teens, got it boxing and it stuck, real names Bob, but can't remember when anyone used it, not even my kids and there are millions of Bobs. Like lots of nicknames, didn't like it, as it was the opposite to what I was, but that's the weirdness of nicknames. Think my ex only liked me for the name and reputation back them.
Pretty knowledgeable about gas, as a master builder had to do gas, electric, plumbing, planning, design drafting, engineering, environmental and local government courses to qualify. Along with learning every other trade so I could pick out the wankers fast.
Don't eat eggs, not interested in consuming the reject menstrual cycle of a chook.

Uh Oh.....T1 Terry wrote:Nothing like hydrogen/oxygen mix from an electrolysersupersparky wrote:Slowhand, Just a word of warning. Methane is a highly volatile odourless gas. I'm not telling you how to suck eggs, but it's pretty impressive when it goes bang. The flame front is so fast that the electrolyser explodes if you don't use a bubbler flame arrester/pressure release close to the ignition source to protect against flame back, the commercial flame arrestors do not work with this stuff. This mix is also odourless, zero noxious emissions and the only residue is water. The flame is hot enough to melt steel if concentrated but it's an oxidising flame so it can't be used for welding. It's a perfect heating and cooking gas as well as an internal combustion engine fuel and it's produced from water, any water.
Are you headed on a new path T1????
Having been there a few years back, I can attest to some difficulties in storage and some glaring differences between power required to produce the product and actual resultant product.
