Winnebago Alpine on Isuzu NQR450
We are thinking about updating the Coaster and have been having a look at what is available in our price range. The Winnebago Alpine has ticked most of the boxes on SHMBO list. Is there anything that I should pay particular attention to when inspecting one of these? Is the manual gearbox better than the auto or vice versa? Does the Isuzu NQR450 have any known faults that may cause trouble???? Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers
David

I suggest you have a look on the Winnebago club forum, wrvc.com.au
Put in a search and if any one has had a problem on that type of vehicle it will probably be there.
I have a Winnebago Birdsville Elite and look at the forum regularly.
Regards Colin

Had the little brother for a few years. The cab can get hot due to heat transfer from the engine. They still ride like a truck. They are pretty reliable though

10/10 for the Isuzu from me........
From memory the 450 comes under 'heavy vehicle' regulations?
The 250 and 300 are under the 4.5 tonne rating.
You may need to adjust tyre pressures in a 450 to stop shaking a few things to bits or add a bigger fuel/water tank. (load it up)
Will you still talk to us Civilian & Coaster poorer people? lol
Nice!!! go for it! Long time dead we are!!

agree with Shirley.Shirley wrote:No keep the Coaster David or get another one.
We had a winnie (mod Alpine) when we had the box fitted to the back of the unit (by an engineer) the frame & so called insulation was crap o. Once bitten twice shy. IMHO all those so called rigs are "pretty" rubbish on wheels.

With the extra perks comes extra lurks - kiss the "I can get this (coaster) in there" tight squeeze access goodbye when you upgrade because 2m width fits in places that 2.5m just does not, even if you fold the mirrors*!
dawg (*was told not to damage the drivers side because that's the expensive [$1500] one that has the radio antenna)

Experience is a wonderful thing. It helps you recognise a mistake when repeated.

Works both ways though Brad!
Must be good to be able to pass each other as one goes forward and one goes to the back!
Especially once you (I) stop growing up and start growing out.......... in front!!!
I know going from a big Bedford bus to my Civilian was a huge shock to me!
Bruce (I'll stay sitting while you move around ..... !!!)

Buses are definitely best IMO & Coasters are great you can take them most places thru state forests,N.Ps., into reserves heaps of places that you can't go in a bigger vehicles also can get spare parts easily & have them repaired Australia wide because all towns have Coasters.
Go on a diet if you can't pass in the passage way, lol, lol, or just sit down & relax while dinner is being prepared.
Love our Coaster would only ever upgrade to another bus, agree with Dot.
