We have a cheapie twin tub and it pulls a lot more than 600w on start up, ie every time it changes direction. I would have to check to be 100% sure but I think it's way over 1000 watts

Hi, all.

Wilber - ours is definitely an 18a model, we used it with the original 300w inverter, no probs.

Must say your "cheapie" twin tub would have cost more than ours... To save BruceS from saying it, my definition of cheap is different from most - I discovered that when buying imitation Anderson plugs that the socket is 2mm less deep than the genuine article, for example.

Hi, all.

Assuming the Inverter problem is overheating, I've decided to do a major reinstall.First, remove the 40 amp charger and put the inverter in it's place for much improved ventilation. The 40 amp charger will go where the Projecta charger was. The Projecta charger will go in a locker somewhere as it's superfluous. There's an elegant irony there somewhere.. BTW I now have a charger for sale.
Come on BruceS..

I would if I could ....... but it'd have to be a 48V one!
I got 3 useless 12V ones already......... no excuse if the Commodore battery goes flat! ... huh?
Bruce (Shonky) is your twin tub like ours?

but if you added another one then you would have 4 x 12v battery chargers and that would charge a 48v battery ;)

Hi, all

Our 4th Projecta 600w inverter (installed last Xmas) is giving three beeps intermittently, while Mrs shonky is using the twin tub which draws 12amps. Anybody know what this particular alarm means? I've looked at the manual and it's not mentioned.
Odd, in that in my experience they either go cactus within 48hrs or else last 18mths.

Probably low voltage warning if you're using lead/acid batteries & if the lead from the battery to the inverter is a bit too light.
Startup of the motor in the washing machine might cause a sudden spike in the Amps too .... too quick for your multi meter to pick up.

It means that you should have spent a few more dollars on a bigger inverter.

Hi, all.

BruceS - Nope - AGM batteries, and the first 300w inverter lasted 18mths.

SteveW - nearly ditto - the first 600w inverter lasted 18mths too.
