Tyre Dog readings.
George B here I have just installed the tyredog tyre pressure system has anyone else had a discrepancy between the pressure readings and the actual pressure would be interested in any comments thanks

Re: Tyre Dog readings.
Pressure readings, I'm happy if I can keep the bottom air in the tyres. Only lost the top air out of few tyres, the steer on the Mazda and a drive tyre on the kombi, the others have just lost the air out of the bottom bit... although the Mazda did loose some side air out of an inside drive tyre and left a hole big enough to put a fist in.
Are the tyredog things worth the effort and $$? Don't you check tyre temps ever few hundred kms with the hand on the tread?

Re: Tyre Dog readings.
I would not be without mine. I think they are fairly close but then you check after inflating and then you know where they are. If they stay above the required pressure then I am happy.
Lost two tyres on trailers and if I had the tyre dogs I would have been alerted that they were going down. One I even wore the rim away.
Have to compare the price of the tyre dogs to the cost and inconvenience of the other options. One wheel lost cost similar to the set I have now as i needed all new bearing drums brakes and rimes as well as the tyre.

Re: Tyre Dog readings.
We ended up ditching the tyre dogs that came with the van we bought in 2014. They were good when they worked but the 2011 model was superseded and spare parts no longer available. Had to be sent interstate for sensor repair. Cost a small fortune. When the second sensor died we decided to go for the Safety Dave solution. So far so good.

Going to get some new batteries as the originals may be old even though the batteries were sealed in original packing but the monitor is showing "Data not received" for 3 0f the 6 tyres.

You're probably driving too fast, Dot. The signals can't keep up!Dot wrote:Going to get some new batteries as the originals may be old even though the batteries were sealed in original packing but the monitor is showing "Data not received" for 3 0f the 6 tyres.
