We stayed in a couple of RV parks like that during our travelling over there, using old aerodromes like that one for and RV park appears to be elatively common. Each site will have had full hookup for everything including cable tv. Lots of state and provincial National parks will have full hookup on bitumen sites, sometimes they apologized profusely for the lack of cable tv and sewer connection but most had wifi even up in the far reaches of BC and the Yukon.

Yep, agree that some of the beaches are spectacular, the dry sand is warm and lovely to walk on, the wet sand on the other hand is like walking in a cold room with bare feet. Just arrived at Preservation Bay, it's Sunday, the sun is shining, the ocean is calm, you guessed it, no one on the beach

The water is nice and warm at this time of the year, for Tas.

Have to admit. yesterday and today are a little on the cool side, go soaked yesterday slashing my neigbours paddock. It's down in the valley and didn't notice the change coming, went from about 2odeg to about 6deg in 5 minutes and the drive home up the hill was wet and windy.

We are still getting showers today, so am inside until the wind drops and can finish the job.

Australia is a long way behind when it comes to facilities like that, but a bit more room between the rigs would make it so much better. A dump point and a pump out truck that did the rounds say twice a week would cover most grey and black water tank requirements, blocks wide enough to park a 40 ft rig across so centrally parked either way there is enough room to swing in, then for the toad/tug one side and awning the other to build that barrier so you aren't right up against the neighbour like the suburban house you just left

Dot, funny thing you mention that, very rare to see any vandalism, tagging etc anywhere in Canada or the US. Admittedly we usually steer clear of cities but even so those we did visit it wasn't common. Most "National" parks whether they be local, provincial, state or national usually have a caretaker on site even in remoter regions and they collect any fees and actually clean the grounds very regularly. Most were mown and edged very well, all neat and tidy and most catered for big rigs as big rigs whether they be bus type or 5th wheeler are more common there than here.
Dump points were a joy to behold, set out like a servo with an island with dump point one end and fresh the other, large bins on site, disposable gloves supplied at lots and easy drive through access for any size rig.
Rest areas on highways were also a revelation, parking for hundreds of cars with trucks, RV's and cars all having separate sections, lots had dump points and water fill points with spotless amenities with manned tourist info and sometimes bikkies and free tea/coffee as well as free wifi. Many also had wide expanses of lawns with shade trees and picnic tables all due to the larger population and huge numbers of people travelling.

Those things would be nice over here but the sheer distances/ isolation etc would be the nut cracker esp in some of our well known places
