Getting high tech there Bernie.
I have 2 large portable hard drives with all my stuff duplicated.
As well I have many hard drives with selected stuff such as movies videos photos etc.
Had many drives from my work live but still seem to need more all the time. %TB soon goes when you have a lot of data.
Remember when I started in computers using 2 5.25 floppies one for program and one for data. Then we got these massive 1mb hard drives and quickly grew through 10mb 20mb 40mb etc every few months.
Now 5Tb is normal.
Best to have at least one copy of everything and keep it disconnected from the computer preferably in a different space so in the event of a fire breakin or virus you will have a clean copy. For two drives you back up each in turn perhaps every other week or monthly so data is only two copies behind.
When working we had one for each day of the week, 5 weekly ones and 12 monthly ones and then at the end of the year we saved the last one as a yearly one and introduced a new one. Many times I bought 5 new daily ones and moved the rest down the line.

"tanks" here BernieQ---I have sent you a pm
I'm now 87 years old, having experienced another birthday, and I'm still living in WA, single (gave up looking), white hair, no teeth, no money, no worries.
I plan to have another birthday next year.

Yep... this. However it generally doesn't matter if the drives are the same, provided the first cloning recipient is bit a larger. It will just be formatted into a smaller "logical drive". Once done, the reverse clone will work fine provided you don't try to work with "physical drives".BruceS wrote:In brief ....
1. Determine the exact hard drive you already have. (Device manager?)
2. Buy another identical drive. (Ebay?)
3. Pop it in one of your spare bays in the computer & hook it up.
4. Install & run "EaseUS Todo Backup" (Free) to make an exact copy. https://www.easeus.com/backup-software/tb-free.html
5. Swap drives weekly, daily or monthly as you wish.
6 For laptops I use one of these. (or desktop) http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/HDD-Docking- ... SwiwVWSXDY
These are terms clearly identified during the process.
FWIW, having two different model drives can make it harder to accidentally clone the wrong way, as the drive ID will be clearly different in the device list.
Cheers,
