Insurance companies comparisons
Have the car and MH insured with Ten Tame. Had a call from APIA saying they would do our car for $400yr (comprehensive) compared to KT at $620 yr. Has anyone had dealings with APIA?

Dot,
All I know is after the fires in 2009, RACV and Pensioners had good and quick outcomes. We remain with RACV even though they are expensive.
I think house insurance is more important to get right than a car.... it's really imperative to read though the terms and conditions to understand what and what you are not covered for. Especially in today's climate change conditions. Anyone can be involved in a weather related insurance claim.

Had dealings with APIA and never had any worries.
As KT is now Alliance i wonder if any advantages that we had with him are gone now.
My Ranger is with 4Wd and the van with RAC wa
That way we get the 4Wd recovery anywhere in Aus and the RAC almost the same for the van
We use APIA for the house .

After much research, we have house, car, boat and rental with apia. They have been very good for us. At renewal time every year call them and request a loyalty discount. Which they do give, but only after you ask for it.
The caravan we have with cil, because they have been very good when we really needed help and no quibbles when we made a claim.

Was with APIA, but they would not insure for a higher agreed price, so went to Coles and they did. And they were cheaper. Did a quick "quote grab" just now and to insure my car for the same agreed value and excess claim amount with both companies shows that Coles at $342.00 is cheaper than APIA at $645.00. APIA pay by month, Coles in one hit.

What I'll add in is avoid NRMA cause they are ar##holes who will screw anyone over if they get half a chance. We were multiple policy holders for yrs before my motor vehicle accident and still held the policies for 10yr after the accident, yet they screwed me over big time. If they will do that to a long term member imagine what they would do to a new policy holder.
Worth checking out who the parent company is that actually have all these different insurance company names, I'm sure NRMA didn't just go out on their own to do what they did, it would be a policy of the parent company. Looking through Google IAG are NRMA's parent company
