Solar quotes for our house
We have two quotes for 6.6kw solar installation (22 x 300w panels and 6.5kw inverter) from Arise Solar and One Power Solar. The quotes vary enormously: $4490 and $10000. The one from Arise comprises Suntech mono panels and a Growatt 6.5kw inverter. Which do you think I should go with?

Reckon the difference would be the type of solar panels that they are installing, been a lot in the media about cheaper solar panels not as good.

Shirley, the solar panels are Tier 1 and receive good reviews (Suntech STP3005). Ditto the inverter (Growatt S/5500MTL) for the lower priced quote.

Today we got a letter from Zen offering a comparison between the current rebate setup and more panels and batteries.

Do you have a Solargain branch/franchise in the Hunter?
We had our 6.5kW system with inverter installed for $5500.
After-sales-service has been fantastic. Our local bloke (Wangaratta) not only answered email queries on a Sunday, but travelled 45km to check our system when our latest bill was way higher than before solar installation!
(Turned out the billing was wrong: shoulda been a $50 credit, rather than $500+ to pay.

Yes we have got some things similar 22 panels for around 4000 last bill 300 credit

George, I know that you will be extremely thorough in your investigating each company before a decision is made. Check closely, how long each company has been installing the panels. If you want another quote, try Eris McArthy. It wont be the cheapest, but he is a long time worker in solar and does amazing back up service. Phone is 02 4336 1500 He has been installing solar into Aboriginal communities for over twenty years, so his experience is worth a lot.

Hopefully the 7:30 report on the ABC last night open the eyes of many who have been conned on price alone. The whole Tier 1 thing was exposed in that report alone with the actual meaning of being an accredited member of the same mob that hand out the quality assurance on these products.
