Re: Water proof Ceiling Vent.
How did you get on with the roof vent? I'm still trying to find a vent cover for my fantastic vent that doesn't attack my sense of sensibility when it comes to freight costs. I found this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1fhkbl_1yQ and one of their vent on US evilbay http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FANTASTIC-FA ... 33748f4e49. The freight is still dearer than the cover but not quite as reduculous as the previous one I enquired about. I have sent them an inquiry about combined shipping for 2 vent covers and another fantrastic vent for the big bus, we will see what the reply to that one is. The other mob never replied regarding a better freight price
I also discovered you can buy the fan cover on Amozon, haven't found a freight price on that yet, but if you buy out of their store rather than a link to a supplier the freight is usually fairly reasonable.

Re: Water proof Ceiling Vent.
It gets more confussing, there is this review on the Maxxair vent cover that seems to give it the thumbs up http://www.amazon.com/MaxxAir-850-White ... ewpoints=1 and this one on the Fantastic vent that appears to be a thumbs down http://www.amazon.com/review/R1S6D9LHAB ... D9LHABUMRH I'll get price on the maxx air vent cover via Amozon and see how painful that is

Re: Water proof Ceiling Vent.
After my previous E Bay inquiry about a Maxx Air vent cover http://www.ebay.com/itm/MaxxAir-00-9450 ... p=mtr#shId and freight being over the $ 700 mark, and then $75.84 from this mob http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FANTASTIC-FA ... 998880841?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item33748f4e49 for a similar sized vent cover, it’s refreshing to see not all US sellers are tarred with the same brush. Amazon, $78.74 for the cover, $30.89 freight.
US sellers must think the rest of the world are as stupid as they are, none of the other RV sellers want to sell outside the US, what a joke, some people in that country will never come to grips with reality

Just one thing I'd like to point out with that youtube video. The maxxair vent does not sit flush on the roof, there is an air gap around the base. So the test is not quite accurate. I'm not saying the fantastic vent is not a great cover, simply saying it is not comparing apples with apples. Also I have 5 Maxxair covers and am extremely happy with them.

Re: Water proof Ceiling Vent.
I went with the Maxx Air 850 cover through Amazon, I liked the way the vent is sloped backwards so there is less likelyhood of rain ever entering the vent. The price on freight from Amazon made up for the higher price of the Maxx Air vent.
If I bought another fan assited vent, I would buy the Maxx air unit in preference to the Fantastic vent, it looks a better thought out design.

T1 it seems like the vent is designed for the vehicle to be always travelling.

With all this talk about vent covers, if you seal the vents when installed and make sure you close/restrict the vents when its raining, why change things. I think the USA type covers are made for those climes that have extremes like snow/sleet that we have a lot less of.

Re: Water proof Ceiling Vent.
I can't comment about the one Terry has bought but the Maxxair vent covers I have fitted have been through countless tropical down pours and survived so very high wind storms. Never had rain come in and we leave the vent open during the rain, and they have never suffered any damage from the wind.

No more worrying when it starts raining and you are out. We also travel with the vents open. Have you ever sat in your MH for an extended period whilst the vents and windows are closed because it is raining? Plenty of air flow, no condensation and we also selected a darker colour vent cover for the bedroom vent as it used to get bright in the early hours when the sun comes up. All I can say is this is one of the best additions we have made. Also I can't see why snow or sleet would have anything to do with selecting a vent cover.

Re: Water proof Ceiling Vent.
The advantage of travelling with the vent open and not worrying about being buffetted and damaged by the wind and being able to have the vent open while sleeping with little risk of the rain coming in more than out weights the cost as far as I see it. The fantastic vent it will go over does have a rain sensor so if we do get one of those down pours with the wind blowing the wrong way, the vent will automatically close and reopen when the sensor dries.
