Instead of stuffing around with usb sticks etc, I bought a wall wart that has a built in tuner and WiFi network point. After plugging in the antenna, and downloading the software, I can have tv on my tablet, phone or laptop without any mucking about. Downside is only one device at a time, however the tablet in bed makes for comfortable viewing
The software is tivizen, will get the device name when I get home if anyone is interested

Hi, all.
Dapope - what's a wall wart, who sells them and do they work on top-end computers? Almost forgot - how much?

Hi Shonky,
here is the link
http://www.kaiserbaas.com/tv-radio-cate ... fi-tv-plug
Yes it works on the fruit
Needs 240v but easy off an inverter.
It wont make up for a dodgy antenna, it does come with a small one, but the brief try I gave it produced nothing
Goes great off our winegard, except for when the signal is vertical. Tried pulling the pin and setting it vertical, that worked great
Saves me putting a second telly in the bedroom

if TV is very important to you whilst travelling then you cannot beat a sat dish. That way you will have TV no matter where you are.

Hi,all.
Craig - apparently the converter from a sat dish to Imac costs about the same as the complete dish setup.
dapope - looks very good. Still have to try a couple of options with the Eyetv stick, although seems they're not highly spoken of in various forums. You realise of course that if the wifi thingy doesn't function Mrs shonky will be pursuing you with a sharpened lamington tray.

Worked really well at the outlaws in Cranbrook the other night. Was good enough on the horizontal setting, then when I tipped the winegard vertical we got everything. Had it displayed on my phone, took it for a walk and got about 30metres away before the signal cut. even better, you can record programs as well. I like the idea that I can sit outside and watch stuff if I want (or the boss can, my fun is finding the gadget, then getting it running)

Are you stuck for space Shonky?
Even a $130 12volt tv from Kogan would be a better option

Hi,all.
Craig - space is Fairly good, but Mrs shonky has a thing about more gadgets.
Tested the aerial with the rellie's tv this morning all was fine. Currimund is a bit of a black spot, but the reception was great even with aerial down.
Went back to the shop todey to get a refund and was offered a better model from Elgato that "should" work for only $100 more. No thanks. Purchased a Kaiser Baas Wifi gadget on line for $114 plus postage, and will keep you posted.

Hi, all.
dapope - the gadget's arrived, good, but the sellers are having difficulty finding and supplying the app. If you have the app link can I ask you to send it over? Mrs shonky will email you a dozen lamingtons in appreciation.
