Same here Brian.

Funny thing, I used to be an ambassador for the club. Closing the forum has created anti PR - if there is such a thing.

Between that and a few of the other "jobs for mates" issues chased me away as well. Maybe the new blood at the top level can sort it out and get it back on the right track. I won't say that I'll never rejoin, but the fact I stuck it out for 14 yrs before dropping my membership as the last straws broke the link, they will need to get back to where they were, as far as looking after members, at least 10yrs ago before I'd consider it.

Eventually councils will only let you freedom camp if you have a LNT qualifiying vehicle (with a current sticker).

The sticker will determine who the authorities will move on, vehicles that don't qualify will not have a qualifying sticker as it has to be renewed each year by an authorised club.

Regulation has to come sooner or later. How they will police it is another matter. If a vehicle is reported, then the authorised clubs will have the power to withdraw or not renew the LNT sticker and once the scheme is up and running, no sticker, no free camping.

At the moment it is a free for all, people abuse free camps in as many ways as you can think of. The councils could close all free camps but the councils are working with the CMCA and other caravanning bodies to help establish some regulations.

Do you think they could get that up and functioning in our life time Derek? All the local councils in agreement and state govts in agreement, accepting a scheme thought up by the ****, not forced on them by a higher authority? The caravan park assoc will sit back and give the whole thing the thumbs up and a stamp of approval maybe?....... I'll keep an eye out for the headlines, and the flying pigs ;)

Guess at least the CMCA is fighting the C.Ps. lobby to keep our freedom camping & working with councils to get more o'night rest areas not to mention all the dump points being installed, think everyone enjoys using these facilities, whether CMCA members or not, worth paying the $44 per year for us, we will be renewing our membership.

I think **** needs to be supported. Nothing is perfect - well almost nothing is perfect- and the underlying aims are important to us.

Not going to get into the politics of it, the last think I wanted to do was start the same nonsense as on the other forums, both past and present. Let's just say, if they did what you think they do, then there would not have been a problem
