Hi Dot we problerly travel with to many chairs but you have to have comfort on the road, we first started out with just the Coleman up right chair with head rest they can also recline which is good , I like them to sit up to a table to eat, if I am just sitting around to read etc. I have one that folds up that has pockets on the side for cups, phone, glasses etc. and then I have a big wiz bang one that is a chair come lounge if I really want to totally relax or Nanny Nap on ,love this big chair but BOSS is not always happy to get it out for me... Best thing is to go to somewhere like Rays and put bums on seats to see what suits you best.. But be prepared to spent a little as you will be using these a lot. We have had our Coleman chairs for 10 years now and still excellent.

George. I have made bags for all our chairs.. we now only take one of the big chairs and one of the folding chairs as Ivan likes to sit on the Coleman all the time. (we fight over who is going to use them )they all lay flat in the back of the D-Max...

I think you've seen our set-up.
We have 2x director's chairs - with drinks-table on right & magazine carrier on left. Wild Country brand... cost us about $60 ea.
We also have 2x BCF recliners which are good for Nanny-Naps & reading etc. Storing these is a problem: only one fits in our through-bin. T'other sits inside, down the back. Not ideal, but it sort-of works.

The two important bits we found were lower back support and no bar across the front edge of the seat to cut off blood circulation to the legs. Weight is another priority because you always end up carrying it some where, learnt that from the days of Carry My Chair Again rallies

We got these, really compact on comfortable.

Dotty, you must remember our settee chair. Here it is in action at Mindil Beach, Darwin
This double seat is comfortable and strong. We have had it now for three years. It is ideal for happy hours as you only have to carry one seat (folds up like a normal single chair) and has the added bonus of a canopy that can keep the sun off.

And we also try to sit next to somebody with one of those folding tables on the side of their chair so we have somewhere to put our drinks.

Dot, the best chair for you is the one that is most comfortable for you. Our fav chairs are kmart specials. They are $10 chairs made from aluminium mesh and they don't fold up , but they stack into each other. I needed more support for my back than any of the fold up chairs could give. So go with what suits you. There is no right or wrong answer.
