Just been informed the fishing at King Ash Bay is very poor [and every where] this season as there was no wet. Normanton only got half their normal rainfall and the whole Gulf Country is in severe drought.

Hi everyone, we are now in Brinkworth for the night waiting for this terrible wind to disappear, we had our first night just of the road south of Tintinara, quite a good overnighter, next night we had a wonderful night with Dot & George such wonderful people :D (hope that little comment lets us come back another day    ) Today we got up to quite gusty winds so made an early start, had a good run up to Brinkworth, the little town camp is still excellent but now $12.00 a night but for that you get power, water, hot showers, $6.00 if no power /shower needed. Pub meals are now only Friday & Saturday, pity as we were going to have a nice counter tea. Looks like I will have to cook... :( Not good news about fishing in King Ash Bay, not going to tell the BOSS might just let him think it was his bad fishing again   Well keep in touch as we get further up the road..

Cheers Ros.

That was quick, beat me too telling this motley crew where you were.. As always a pleasure to catch up even if someone didn't give us a "hoy" when he was in the shower  The wind has gone but the rain has taken it's place.. Safe travels. Get the old fella to cook tonight and you can do some "Claytons ironing"

Could you be a bit more specific about "just off the road south of Tintinara" and is it good enough to go on free camping guides? I couldn't find a reference on the sites I look at.

Hi Steve the spot was Tintinara South rest area 8kms south of Tintinara. Camp 6 No.67. The first spot had a shelter and tables but no toilets, but just up from the shelter there was a large gravel pit and a little spot that we were able to back up into with quite good bush/tree coverage. You did get road noise and the train line was on the opposite side of the road heard about 3 trains overnight, OK for a quick overnight spot only, there was another one also North of Tintinara that was similar looked to have a few tracks you could get further back off the road, anywhere along this highway you are going to get road noise and trains..

Cheers Ros.

I did mention the Tintinara airfield? I reckon that would be so quiet & peaceful. Possibly the 7:30AM bank plane might land but that'd make a good alarm clock!!!
Did you fuel up at the big truckstop?
Used to be the cheapest diesel between Adel & Melb.
Used to be called "Bruce & Wendy's Roadhouse" before Allan Scott (Scott's Transport) bought it...........

I'm over my confusion. One learns (from the CB if from nowhere else) that all Australian roads run north/south or east/west - no matter which way they point. The Dukes/Western Highway runs east/west so on my Google Earth I was looking for a parking spot south of Tintinara when I should have been looking east. I know where you are talking about now. :)

Sorry Steve never was any good at North, South, East or West..   We are now in Coober Pedy for two days only been in park for a couple of hours and already over it :x kids, people who have on idea etc.etc. My rant over... need to be here to catch up with a few things back out in the bush come Monday.. I ask one question when you have heaps of vacant sites around you why do people have the need to pack next to one another like little sheep.. :? Every thing has been going well had a look see to try and find the problem with the fridge on 12volt no luck so far so looks like a bigger problem.. Our weather is quite pleasant, cold morning /evenings but lovely sunny days. Lovin our gas heater.. Will post a few photo's when I down load them.. The roads have been very quite, few vans heading south very little going our way..

Cheers Ros.
