Bloody computers...

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Can only agree with you Dawg.
Most difficulties arise out of it not having Outlook Express & the 64bit version caused some hardware to be incompatable.

George, when you get to my age and some youngster comes up and reminds you of something you forgot, it's because we have such an enormous amount of data to juggle that we only deal with what's necessary for daily task. Anything else has to be dug up out of the archives, like "Control Program for Microcomputers".

While not an operating system, I still think COBOL better than sliced bread while UNIX was grouse.

anybody remember the mighty Australian made MicroBee?
I had a product based on the Microbee, it gave it real serial ports, extra EPROM and RAM etc. What a great little computer that was but these days I can get maybe a 1000x more capability for $30.

Still I miss the days if simple computers you could modify yourself, you can still buy all the Z80 chips and I've been tempted to make a retro board just for fun. Speaking of retro boards, the Microbee has been re-released, I don't know how it's going as they don't seem to have much in stock.

After an absence from the marketplace of almost 20 years, Microbee is back! As Australian as ever, Microbee is back with a mixture of old and new to put the buzz back into computing. We are very excited to be able to offer some great new technology, support people interested in our older models and also to offer up a new kit computer

UNBELIEVABLE ! Wot a hoot.

I'll ask Margaret about that, she is part of the techo group in the midst of upgrading Bluescope from XP to Windows 7 64 bit machines, deadline is April before Microsoft withdraws support. They make something or other in the registry that sorts out heaps of issues when sucking the data for old to new and as Bluescope use nothing but Internet Explorer and Office Outlook there must be some sort of fix for it.

OK, asked Margaret about it, they use Outlook, not Outlook Express which is something different, they have never used the express cut down version because Outlook is part of the full Office package that is part of Windows Professional which is part of the SOE that's pushed down...... and from there on I didn't follow a word of it

Most of my customers are elderly and I gave up trying to 'convert' them to the Office one.
Seems to confuse them all the extra calendars & other extras. If done legally it's a big extra cost for them as well.
Thunderbird seems to suit most of them.
One difficulty I'm experiencing with Thunderbird is when I head off in the MH I have to change the outgoing mail servers & it's not very simple in thunderbird when you have 7 accounts!!!
