Re: Big worldwide trip "bon voyage!)
Looks like I got a little ahead of myself and will have to do some catchup.
TRAIN FROM LIVERPOOL STATION:
Catching trains in London is similar to what it is in Sydney Central, except ten times magnified. You find the coloured line you want to travel, not the station – still trying to get my head round that. At least the bobbies and bobbettes were very helpful. :>)
Don't forget to fasten your seat belts, as these babies just fly!

Re: Big worldwide trip "bon voyage!)
How funny is John Cleese in Faulty Towers eh? Well, not so funny when experienced in real life. Yes, we stayed at the one, the (probably not so only) Faulty Towers in Harwich England – I kid you not! Like the show “Yes Minister”, I can verify that it does exist and that Manuel is FEMAIL. The room was up three flights of a very narrow stair case with small short steps. Yes it was clean, but the shower door fell off the track and the toilet took fifteen minutes to refill and gurgled the whole time until if finished filling.
We had to ask for everything twice. At check out I asked for the tab – ¿que? I said, you know, the part where I pay you money. Oh, that'll be £42 – done. Would you like a receipt? Yes thanks. Discovered much later that the receipt doesn't include the £18 for breakfast that we literately had just minutes before getting the bill.
Faulty Towers, the view and a sunrise just like the one Rhonda from AAMI thought she saw in Katuk.

Got a cab from Faulty to the wharf where we were branded in a large room of cattle where we had our passports confiscated – that was a first for me and they still have not been returned even though we've been ashore in two different foreign countries. Seems all you need is that little plastic boat door pass – funny that.
Managed to get a late feed, only to be interrupted by “This is your captain speaking” warning all those late boarders (Harwich was not the first port of call), that if any refused to attend the emergency drill that he would be forced to personally turf them off. So we put our food in the suite and got checked off the list as attendees.
The evening meal sort of made up for that. It was superb accompanied by some excellent New Zealand wine.

Thankyou Brad! I know I'll never get to go on one of those trips but your words & pictures almost puts me there!
I got a little worried when I saw the friendly Bobby at the railway station putting his hand on those handcuffs though.............
You gotta watch that pommy humour.......... nothing like Canadian!!!

Re: Big worldwide trip "bon voyage!)
We are in Gibraltar, but I've got things way out of order, so will back up a bit and start from the beginning.
Our first foreign country was Dubai (after 14 air hours - not to mention the pre flight time), where we were offered the latest models of transport for the second leg of the journey. I thought my hat might be beneficial in keeping the sand out for better vision. Then I realised that we were in the draw to win one of these sleek racing models and they require high maintenance with frequent trips to the golden Halal factory, so sadly we declined and took the next flight to Dublin. Only trouble is Dot that Yo hablo un poco de español.
Will try to catch up, but sometimes the signal strength is good, but the traffic is heavy slowing the transmission. And then there is this hectic pace we are trying to manage.

Re: Big worldwide trip "bon voyage!)
We were told that the Temple Bar was the place to go in Dublin at night.
That's the river Lify at night.
I think we had fun. I'm suffering tourist overload. lol
We just left Malaga Spain and are at sea where the internet is weak, so not sure if this will go. More later.
