You are welcome Chris. The other part I missed answering is the float charge. At 13.8v the battery will very slowly trickle charge, generate very little electrolysis gas so the well within the capabilities of the recombiners built into the AGM battery to return the gases to water and drip it back into the cell. The issue then becomes a stratification problem, concentrated acid at the lower levels in the cell attacking the lead and near pure water at the top due to the recombiners dripping water back in. The CTek chargers have a built in program that returns the system to boost charge voltage on a regular basis, the Plasmatronics PL20 and Dingo also have this feature as part of the programming capability. The idea is to get the electrolyte bubbling to stir the acid up and redistribute it through the cell. This adds yrs to the battery life if it normally sits on a float charge for long periods, but not really required in a working system as the return to boost voltage would normally be a daily occurrence.
The idea of dropping the float voltage to 13.2v is to simply keep the battery at what ever state of charge it was at when the 13.2v maintenance charge commenced. 13.2v is not enough to add any more charge to a lead acid battery with a state of charge in excess of 90%, 13.8v is the min required to get a lead acid battery back to 100% SOC. One of the few similarities between lead acid and lithium iron batteries is this 13.8v as the min voltage required for a 100% charge and 12v being the lower limit before damage will start to occur, but that's about where the similarities end
