The kogan agora 6 plus looks like a great phone also. The reviews are good.

Terry they will work but very few phones you purchase overseas work on either band 8 (900mhz) or the latest Band 28 ( 700mhz) that Telstra uses for the 4GX mainly data network. Some newer areas might only have the latest frequencies in remoter regions.
Optus also has a band 42 (3500 mhz) which is also not available on many overseas phones.
The Kogan Agora 4g+ has the 700,900 and 1800 but not the 2600 mhz frequency.
I also only buy the phone outright usually just as the carriers are upgrading their phone range and surplus stocks of the "old" model become available in new sealed boxes.

I probably did not explain something clearly enough or perhaps not at all. Solly.

Most of the Chinese Phone Manufacturers make two model versions. One for domestic and greater Asian consumption and another which is the International version. The international version allows all bands and frequencies. This means, you must have a clear understanding of what to shop for.

The three owners of Xiaomi and one of Oppo I know, report no issues with network connection and in fact only report totally satisfying experiences.

Make sure you buy the real international spec'd phone :D
