Last report was the system was working so well now they use the air con reverse cycle instead of lighting the wood fire on all but the below zero nights which only occur a few days a yr.

Terry you are obviously in the trade, might I enquire what the total battery capacity was for that residence?

We have 2Kw Solar installed about five years ago. Fortunately being retired we use maybe 50% of the array capacity when we are home during the day. I do wince at the 6c per kw that we get for KW's exported. Should I take another look at battery storage. I am not going to be around long term but Maryanne will. I would be interested in your thoughts.

That install was 700Ah @ 12v and 2800w of solar. They do have a back up generator that uses a Honda engine and a car alternator, I think it's Christie brand or a name similar. They had to run it every day even when the lead acid batteries were new but towards the end it was running even when the sun was shining in an attempt to get enough in the batteries and finally it ran so the lights would stay on but the battery pack was 10 yrs old by then. They have had to run the generator after a solid week of rain since the lithium install but I don't know if they have had to use it this yr since the wiring upgrade.
I don't want to do prices on the open forum because I don't want to be seen using this or any other site as a sales base, but if you want to PM me I can send you our email address and take anything that even looks like a commercial enquiry away from the forum...... but let's just say it is about half the cost of a battery supply only mentioned else where on this forum including one of our battery protection systems.

My house runs on 240v, 700amp lifepo4 cells through 3 x 12v inverters,
I assume you mean 700 amp hour.

George
Yep, got a habit of doing that when writing, have to change that, thanks.

Ummm.... where is "over here to within 50km or so?
We will be all around the Perth suburbs doing a few pick ups and a solar job and then back to Wagin for an install job, then back to sunny Mannum to start the big jobs.
