Hi sparky, yes no damage but plenty of grass to cut. Bloke who was suppose to do it only done the basics so a few days needed to clean up.
Left Canberra on Wednesday morning as the son was heading back to work. Nice drive up to Binalong to pick up the van and load the fridge back in the ute. Had a look at the Binalong free camping site at the sports ground and it looks like a good spot to stop if people are interested. It is on Wikicamps as well.
Took the road out of Binalong heading north to Boorowa for fuel and a couple of bacon and egg sangas. Was recommended the Superb bakery on the main street as being good. Well the person who served us was not very friendly and the sandwich was way over cooked. Will not be ordering from there again. The town was very clean and would not mind looking around on another trip.
As this was a quick trip home with the wife having to start work on Monday we did not do any sight seeing and tried to stay on as many back roads as possible.
Headed in to Narrabri about 5pm and decided to stay at the free camp we used on the way down. This is called Turrawan Beside the River and is on the Old Gunnedah Rd 14k south of Narrabri. Small sign on the right side heading south. Track in ok but a some tyre ruts so just drive slowly. River was up and plenty of room even for large rigs. No rubbish and minimum of road noise.
A couple of photos
Awoke the next morning for a early start, headed in to Narrabri to fuel up and head north again. Wanted to have a look at the free camp at Bingara so heading that way and it was a good road as well. Bingara looks a nice town and the camp is on the other side of the river. Track in a bit rougth but you head to the right and go all the way down. A few units camped there and the river was up and fast flowing.
Headed up to Wariaida and stopped at the Okie Dokie cafe for the bacon and egg sangas. Can highly recommend this cafe the owner was friendly and the sandwich was excellent with the most bacon I have ever had on a sandwich unless I made it. From there we headed to Texas, Toowoomba. Hampton. Esk, Kilcoy and reaching home about 3:30pm. Unloaded the van fridge, car fridge and other basics before grabbing a wine each, turn the AC on and watched the rest of the first day of the test.
One day I look forward to a slow trip with longer stops at the places we have liked along the way. Sorry I did not get the chance to meet people but coming down crook again took all out free time and a couple of the days we should have had on the road.
Have mowed the back so today I will move the lady down the back to give her a good clean. Will then replace the vynal on the front and sell her. Has been a good van to learn in but looking at a 18/19ft with ensuite any bigger and I would not be able to get it down the back.
This ends this trip so if you are on the road or heading of be careful folks there are some idiots out there
