After the above photo was taken we had lunch and when leaving the restaurant Julie missed a step and face planted on the footpath and bled profusely. A passing Russian doctor checked for any serious injury but suggested that she should go to the hospital. Our tour guide arranged a taxi and made certain that we weren't going to be ripped off with the fare and after a 15 minute trip we arrived at the hospital where our guide organised the payment of a bribe in order to bypass the other waiting patients. Below is the waiting room of patients bypassed.

After a cleanup and placement of bandaids we needed to visit a Chemist for pain killers etc and another taxi trip. The all up cost, including the bribe and taxi fares - $AU50.
We then proceeded to take a canal cruise which included copious amounts of vodka which assisted with pain relief.

Preparations for Winter

We exited the Winter Palace to find the machinery shown below which had been prepared for winter cleanup. There was even fake snow falling (photo 5) along with a snowman.
