Re: Dots across screen
It is very annoying. We do not have snow at Christmas, well not sunny QLD anyway.
Time is passing too quickly so live life to the full with your spouse/partner while you still have she/he by your side.

I won't turn mine off-----it's the only "BANG" I get now days.
Keith.
I'm now 87 years old, having experienced another birthday, and I'm still living in WA, single (gave up looking), white hair, no teeth, no money, no worries.
I plan to have another birthday next year.

Re: Dots across screen
I love the way you can make the fall direction change as you move the cursor across the screen ... just to clear up any miss understandings, that's the snow flakes moving when you move the pointer across the screen, not Dottie letting loose with a few choice words because she was being dragged backwards and forwards across the 'puter screen
I was wondering if the dots might have been the braille bits Dottie mentioned having installed on another thread and she had accidently put the locations up on the forum rather than a PM .... then I wondered if it would have been accidental at all ....

Re: Dots across screen
Oh poor ol Tanks
I also see black spots on the screen, thought it was salt and pepper snow you know the PC stuff but the black spots turned out to be the floaters in my eyes (not a polly waffle floater either) x

Re: Dots across screen
Time to see a specialist before you need the braille implants to find your own bits .... that was the first signs I got. The big test is a mark in the middle of a sheet of graph paper. Stare at the centre mark with one eye, are the lines around the mark in your peripheral vision straight or do the have a slight wiggle in some sections? Are there any shadow areas? If you see the shadows you should have been on the specialists waiting list yesterday, if you see the wiggle or the lines are not all straight or clear, make the appointment today.
Better to stop the degeneration as early as possible, it doesn't return to "as before" but at least it stops it getting worse.

Re: Dots across screen
Terry I had my eyes tested last week and my floaties are ok just old rubbish that comes with age, they will be absorbed in time.
One thing that the nice man found was my oil glands (between the eye lashes and the eyes) were blocked so he kindly cleared them for me and showed me how to do it when needed.

Funny thing.
I just noticed that on my phone, I can’t pop the lights!
Bruce,
I may have to contact the Anti-Discrimination Commissioner...

I think that’s called ‘blackmail’...

Re: Dots across screen
OK Ray........ a little secret!!
Here are the 'configurable s' for the snow.
// --- common properties ---
this.autoStart = true; // Whether the snow should start automatically or not.
this.excludeMobile = true; // Snow is likely to be bad news for mobile phones' CPUs (and batteries.) Enable at your own risk.
this.flakesMax = 300; // Limit total amount of snow made (falling + sticking)
this.flakesMaxActive = 200; // Limit amount of snow falling at once (less = lower CPU use)
this.animationInterval = 33; // Theoretical "miliseconds per frame" measurement. 20 = fast + smooth, but high CPU use. 50 = more conservative, but slower
this.useGPU = true; // Enable transform-based hardware acceleration, reduce CPU load.
this.className = null; // CSS class name for further customization on snow elements
this.excludeMobile = true; // Snow is likely to be bad news for mobile phones' CPUs (and batteries.) By default, be nice.
this.flakeBottom = null; // Integer for Y axis snow limit, 0 or null for "full-screen" snow effect
this.followMouse = true; // Snow movement can respond to the user's mouse
this.snowColor = '#fff'; // Don't eat (or use?) yellow snow.
this.snowCharacter = '•'; // • = bullet, · is square on some systems etc.
this.snowStick = true; // Whether or not snow should "stick" at the bottom. When off, will never collect.
this.targetElement = null; // element which snow will be appended to (null = document.body) - can be an element ID eg. 'myDiv', or a DOM node reference
this.useMeltEffect = true; // When recycling fallen snow (or rarely, when falling), have it "melt" and fade out if browser supports it
this.useTwinkleEffect = true; // Allow snow to randomly "flicker" in and out of view while falling
this.usePositionFixed = false; // true = snow does not shift vertically when scrolling. May increase CPU load, disabled by default - if enabled, used only where supported
this.usePixelPosition = false; // Whether to use pixel values for snow top/left vs. percentages. Auto-enabled if body is position:relative or targetElement is specified.
// --- less-used bits ---
this.freezeOnBlur = true; // Only snow when the window is in focus (foreground.) Saves CPU.
this.flakeLeftOffset = 0; // Left margin/gutter space on edge of container (eg. browser window.) Bump up these values if seeing horizontal scrollbars.
this.flakeRightOffset = 0; // Right margin/gutter space on edge of container
this.flakeWidth = 12; // Max pixel width reserved for snow element
this.flakeHeight = 12; // Max pixel height reserved for snow element
this.vMaxX = 5; // Maximum X velocity range for snow
this.vMaxY = 4; // Maximum Y velocity range for snow
this.zIndex = 0; // CSS stacking order applied to each snowflake
