I have no objections to the ads as I generally just don't notice them. Same with ads on TV. I tune out. However, I'm curious as to how it works. Do you get paid for running the ads or only when clicked on? If it's the latter and most of us ignore the ads, won't that defeat the purpose? :? And the ads don't appear on Tapatalk which is what I mostly use.

Another thing you might be interested in Mr Admin is that polls like these don't display on Tapatalk. All the posts appear but not the actual poll. I have found this on CF as well and asked about it but have had no response about whether that can be changed. I had to look at this thread in Safari so that I could vote. Just for your info, as more and more people will move to using tablets and smart phones. :o

I've switched on just the one ad below the last post in a topic. I've switched it to text only so it should have no flashing, moving graphics.
The ads should relate to either the page you're looking at or maybe what you've been searching for.
eg. If you're looking at a post about batteries the ad may be for someone selling batteries or if you've been using Google for looking up lounge suites it might show furnitures shops etc.
There is an option to enable the ads for mobile devices but at this stage I won't do that as I have no means of looking at the resulting ad & besides the screens are small enough now anyway!!!

Well we didn't get a lot of votes but it seems there's no real objection about having an ad.
It's nearly the same votes for one at the top and for having 2 ads.
I'll switch it to just the top one & see if we get many objections.
Going on the last 5 days I think one ad will more than cover any costs involved and will most likely subsidise a few 'extras' to be decided on later.
Could be a free weekend in a 'paid for' place or something.
Thankyou for your participation in the poll and for supporting your forum.

It is against Google Adsense rules for me to ask anyone to click on any of the ads. If I do I can be 'suspended' from their service.
Please do not sit there all day clicking on the ads as that will also attract attention from them.
Surfice to say that if any of the ads do offer something that interests you ..........
For curiosity sake I will keep members informed of how the ads are going for us.

Is it fair to ask if comission is paid on results/hits/or whatever or is it a fixed rate? I'm not interested in what you get, just that your costs are covered.

SteveW,

You might have missed this earlier reply by the BOSS... the highlighted bit should answer your query, I think.
