Friend’s seat has been stained, centre strap custom made & attached, and the whole shebang delivered!

Now I just have five seats and a table to finish for SWMBO…

David,
If you want to find cast iron seats, look where SWMBO did: the Buy, Swap, Sell pages on F****book.
She started with the Rutherglen BSS, and spread her search to the ones further afield, around Albury-Wodonga, Wangaratta etc.
Coupla weeks ago there were quite a few on offer.
Worth a look… 🤞

Ray, I have been checking on Fbk BS for a while now. There are a few other things that I am interested in finding, I'll just have to keep looking when out travelling. I found a nice old meatsaw in a bric a brac store in Murray Bridge earlier this year

Ray, your friend's seat looks like there is a plank of wood missing from the back rest, well done keep up the good work. :D

Some years ago I obtained a seat the same as yours.
The difference was that the lower rod you have in the picture actually went up to the center of the seat strap that comes down from the backrest to stop any sideways movement when the wood gets a bit older>
Like you I had it sandblasted and powder coated and fitted new Jarra slats, unfortunately in one of the shifts around Aus I had to give it away.

Correct, Shirley.
It had broken before restoration began.

Ron,
I thought the same thing. However, I restored it as it was.
Too much mucking about to fabricate a double diagonal brace.
The missing centre strap came from leftovers on hand, otherwise that would also have been foregone.
