How are the major access roads to Loxton faring?
What about the roads around Renmark?
Do you need a submarine to go shopping yet?

The main Loxton to Berri road will have to close in a few days as the approach to the bridge on the Loxton side is quite low over the flats. All the other main roads will be OK . I think most of the ferries will have to close soon. Interesting times.

I am wondering if things like cane toads and big snakes will get swept down this way

The cold weather of the southern states will sort out any toads that may have hitched a ride down. But snakes have frequently been filmed floating down stream on logs etc.
I'd be more concerned about some of the other things in the water like sewerage or chemicals.

The length of heavy cable are in popular demand lately, the wriggly sticks are getting swamped in their hang outs along the edges of the river and looking for high ground in a safer spot, the wack with the cable it to show them that where you are is not a safe spot The two families of water rats that live near opposite our place will be looking for a new home soon as well, they are big buggers so I doubt the piece of cable is going to deter them. Don't want to kill them, they clean up the carp and fish die offs we get each year down this way, the crows and hawks don't seem to be particularly interested in dead fish, so the water rats have it all to themselves ...... the buggers steal the yabbies out of the yabbie traps though, had a few get in and not get back out and drown, but there seems to be enough there to fill in the gaps ....

Hmmm…
Given the way the flood peak(s) are travelling down the Murray River, we’re looking at Penola/Mt Gambier area for a shakedown trip in Towed Haul.
Anyone know what road conditions are like around there?

John, do you know how high above the normal level it is now? It was nearly 8m above normal downstream from the Mulwala wall.
