Yes all the ferries in SA are for vehicles. In fact I think they can all take semi's.
There are several between the bridges at Blanchetown and Murray Bridge.
There is no way to tell if one is worse than the other when it comes to 'dragging your bum" as it totally depends on how recently the receiving plate has been moved further up or down.
Besides that the level of the water in the river can vary as much as a couple of feet depending on the direction of the wind over a few days.
(water is all out South in the lakes or is held up river.
All I can suggest is that if you commonly bang the ground into service stations, etc, then it may pay to use either bridge.
If you have rollers or bumpers under the back of your van/MH like Russell has installed then you can hit the 'dip' at an angle to lessen the bump.
I've seen one MH that had lot's of hose connections, dump point outlets & other valuable bits & bobs right at the rear........... terrible setup.
I won't name names but most of us know who it is....... don't we xxxxx?
Some cars & caravans have a hitch that can be adjusted to raise the back of the van easily........... worth doing if you have one like that.
All ferries carry wooden ramps that can be used to help RV users ........ they provide them for the public use. Don't feel bad about asking for them if you want them.

Thanks Bruce. We have never had a ferry problem before, anywhere.

Kay, we used the Waikerie ferry didn't we? With Chuck and Catriana? Our very first ferry crossing and we were sh***ing bricks. All good in the end. Then on our own we crossed at Swan Reach I think.

The Walker Flat ferry is ok for large vehicles, we have often taken our Denning bus and toad across it without any problems, it is regularly used by a lot of semis as well, and with the river up there should be very reasonable approach and departure angles on it.
The good news is that the recent rains have done wonders for the river and it is looking really beautiful, Walker Flat has a lot of sandstone cliffs around it and is quite spectacular. 26 km north on the eastern side of the river is Swan Reach, it has a great pub overlooking the river and the Swan Reach ferry, a great spot for a leisurely site see and there are also a couple of good wineries not to far away.
We have regularly stopped here for more than 16 years and feel it is a great spot for a get together and if my knee replacement continues as well as the last few weeks, Lorraine and I hope to see you all there.

Terrific Steve!
We all wish you a speedie recovery so football training can resume.
We need you at Walker Flat as your knowledge of the area will help people organise day trips etc.
Steve have you ever seen the Black Granite (marble?) quarries towards Adelaide from the Flat? Black Hill brings back memories.
I picked up some loads there way back in the 80's but can't remember exactly where it is. I know it fascinated me at the time.
It's supposed to be only one of 3, that mine pure black stone for memorial stones, in the world.

I'm really looking forward to this get together, even if I will be working for part of it

It will be great to meet up with friends we have met before and one we have yet to meet in person. Sure hope both Steve and Bob have made a full recovery by Easter and they can attend, with their wives of course
Hopefully Brad's recent scare turns out to be minimal as well and both Brad & Maree can attend and continue on to do their WA trip as well.
I'll let Brad tell you what it's all about if he wishes, but our thought and best wishes are with you buddy along with all that are facing medical issues or recovering from rebuild jobs.
Hope Dottie & George can attend and Dottie gets here back sorted soon as well, seems we have a bout of repairs coming up for many members, but that's just a good sign that the medical people can actually fix so many things now that would have crippled or killed us not too long ago.

I'm not one to play on other peoples sympathies as there are others with troubles far exceeding those of mine. However, rather than let this storm in a teacup gather momentum I'll fess up. While looking at other issues, an accidental find picked up an anomaly which doctor wished to pursue. Off we went to specialist and from the original chest xray we were upgraded to a neck ultrasound which led to a biopsy and resulted in a phone call from the specialist (always cause for concern) saying it looked suspecious. "What about a second biopsy?" sez I, "Yes, we'll do that once we have it out" sez he. Gulp sez I - well, at least I heard a gulp. Funny, I'd groan (sic) rather fond of that lump the size of a ++large golf ball on my thyroid, but doc sez it needs to be evicted before it takes up more real estate. Dress rehearsal is next Thursday, not sure curtain call - errr, maybe not a good choice of words - should have been, opening night.
