Nightly Goodnight Everyone

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

I just could not wake up today, kept going back to sleep. Must be the new pills. Watching Elizabeth at 90 - "A family tribute". I can't help dropping a tear here and there, I have always admired the Queen and my parents had told me stories about the royal family that they remembered. Hard to come to terms she has passed. :( Looking forward to Thursday for the Bledisloe cup (Go the All Blacks) BOB's having a rest day tonight. Time to say goodnight, everyone x :D Goodnight Supersparky , hope you and Terrie are enjoying the train trip x :D

We are Dot. It's past 11pm now in Kalgoorlie, and we are only halfway through the mine tour. Not very well organised because of the numbers of people. Apparently they added 2 extra carriages to this train, so now its nearly 1km long.
We are scheduled for an off train brekky in 6 1/2 hours or so.
Cheers

Pet-els, yes, Dempster’s are the ones recommended to us. T1, the option of swinging by Mannum is on the table.

That's a decent walk from one end to the other. Is your cabin in the middle?

So, update on the fridge. No one in Bundy wanted to know us so I rang Wide Bay Caravans who are our locals in Maryborough. They’ve sold our last caravan and LC on consignment, plus done all our services and mods since we moved here 8 years ago. Although they were booked solid, they fitted us in and Damian (the legend) diagnosed the problem in Short order. He told us if we were blowins we wouldn’t have had a chance.

In nontechnical terms, there is a spiral wire that runs from the flue down, attached at the top by a hook. Not sure of its actual use but when it drops down on the jet it prevents the gas from igniting. It was incorrectly installed from build and Damian was amazed it had taken almost 3 years to fail. So 1 hour later and $66 we were on our way.

The drive down from Bundy was okay except for the bloody roadworks from Torbanlea to Maryborough. We sat for 15 minutes at a one way section!

Anyway, we are happy campers and camped at Doonvilla Soccer Club RV camp on the road to Hervey Bay. $10 per night.
Cheers

"tanks"here----Leslie,
I think you will find that the WIRE THING is used to clean soot from the flue.
Keith.
I'm now 87 years old, having experienced another birthday, and I'm still living in WA, single (gave up looking), white hair, no teeth, no money, no worries.
I plan to have another birthday next year.

Had visitors this arvo, girl I worked with and her husb x copper, G was pleased they bought a cake and I was pleased they took a heap of silver beet and bucket of lemons back with them. G mowed the grass. Still not getting a response from the guy that did our roof restoration and paint job, G contacted consumer and they said unless we had a written contract, we really have no chance so will ring legal aid and see what they say. Might even ring the tax office as we got no receipt. Tried to find the pic of the guy on the roof when he was doing the job, I put on here and someone mentioned he didn't have safety rope on, anyone remember it 2014 I think. Bedtime now so goodnight everyone x :D Goodnight T1 x :D no more peeping through keyholes

Glad to see you are planning an escape soon-ish Dot. Nothing better than escaping the housework and just enjoying the ride. xxxx

Finally have the insurance sorted. APIA were happy to give us a quote for $50,000 value ( I know we couldn't get a replacement for that, but it's a lot better than the CIA mob) APAI would have insured it for up to $80,000 but the price of the policy would be ridiculous. I used the sum of $50,000 for all of the computer quotes and the best price was APIA, especially as they don't charge any extra if you elect pay by the month. Obviously, anyone who needs to reassess their insurance, needs to do their due diligence and some research into their own circumstances.

Our big event of the day was a progress meeting for the afternoon. Most importantly was last week's fish kill. This is the second one in a month. Last time the power station denied any fault. This time, there is now lots of footage, taken by a few locals. The dead fish were all being sent into the lake from the power stations water outlet. There is lots of footage of the dead fish and the channel they were coming from. There is also footage of several power station employees trying to collect all of the dead fish before we found out about it. Luckily there was a fisherman in the area who witnessed the start of this and made a few phone calls to get the town into action. The most incredible thing is that the fish were actually being cooked because the temp of the power station discharge was 17degrees hotter than the surrounding water. Guy taking the temp is also on the evidence footage. Expect to see a lot of this story on current affairs and science type shows.

That's all from here in paradise,
night all xxx
Deborah

Thanks Keith. I did wonder what possible use it could have had.

The big gas fridge that was in the boat when we bought it had that spiral 'thing'. It was more like a long strip of thin metal about an inch wide.
I just thought it was firstly to delay the length of time it took for the heat to get to the top & to ensure the heat revolved around the outside of the tube it goes up in. The fridge also had what looked like a miniature chimney sweep brush on a long rod which I assumed was to clean out the tube of any soot etc.
Long story short............ typical gas fridge was useless in summer over 32 degrees. We ditched it & invested in an inverter fridge & couldn't be happier.
