Oh, ok. I'm a bit confused by the 'just looked at' bit. Never mind.
Yes, ' rural houses with sheds on an acre or two' prices seem incredibly high. Not much under a 800 to a million. Then add in stamp duty and legals. Just ridiculous.... and then throw in the annual costs to support it. If your not working, your super/ investments need to be working hard to keep up.
BTW, it's not about not having a hobby. Everyone needs a hobby. It's about having a place to live with out any jeopardies over time. Sometimes sacrifices need to be temporarily made to secure a higher priority need.

Terry I doubt very much if Strathalbyn is the place for youse & in the town to boot? I may be wrong but I reckon the council there would be even more Gestapo-ish. You may need to look further afield.
An example .... when I recently sold the berth I had to visit my conveyancer. She was in Adelaide originally, then moved out of the city to Murray Bridge (hence called Bridge Conveyencer), but even that was not her desired peaceful existence. She bought the RSL building in Karoonda! House, big hall etc etc.
Ever driven thru West Wylong & wondered how much all those empty abandoned shops would be worth? I have!

Re: Our "New to Us" Winnie
Dottie and George had had no dramas with their motorhome being there, they have two big sheds already, I think I could work with that .... I'll just have to find a buyer for the two containers and the dome a lot earlier than expected .......BruceS wrote: ↑Sun Oct 26, 2025 7:34 am Terry I doubt very much if Strathalbyn is the place for youse & in the town to boot? We found a property at Hallett, cheap enough and couldn't see a problem with putting anything there ...... but it's a long way from anywhere in a rapidly dying town, no fuel, it didn't even seem to have a supermarket of any type .... as a last ditch desperate move would be about it as far as Margaret sees it ..... I couldn't care less, except for the fact it would the min of a day trip to get anything ..... but being on the Barrier hwy, maybe trucks run up through there so a drop off might be possible ... but otherwise .....
Looking at a few places further down the peninsula from Dottie and Georges, one is a really good price with plenty of room for the containers and dome .....

Re: Our "New to Us" Winnie
I've been searching Dr You Tube for advice on how to get this water pump out of the Winnie. Lots of You Tube videos on doing the job on an F series where you can get to the fan and fan shroud, I still haven't found anything on getting one of the F53 motorhome chassis with the motorhome body still on it
I spent a good 3/4 hr getting the from engine flap and air filter out in the hot sun and that was about the end of me ...... As yet, I can't see how the radiator comes out, even if I take the trans cooler, engine oil cooler or P/S cooler, not sure which it is, then the air conditioning condenser so I can even see the radiator ..... I can't see how I could get up from underneath to remove the fan shroud and loosen the big fan hub nut ..... I doubt I could even pay someone to do this job

Re: Our "New to Us" Winnie
I'm feeling for you Terry. It's kinda the same as when I needed to replace the airco compressor on our Winny. Simple as when you tilt the cab. I had a spot about 1800 x 350mm long to access it.
That the trouble with a lot of things with Winnebago stickers on them. The design engineer has never ever done any maintenance tasks.
It's probably real simple if you put the Winnie on a hoist and drop the motor and front axle out. But I only know one guy with one of those hoists, and it's a real long way from Mannum.
Good luck, and wear gloves and long sleeves. Keep some bark on the knuckles.

Re: Our "New to Us" Winnie
Terry, with your wacker hose for black tank, from the Good Morning thread. Get some 1/4" clear vinyl tubing, cut one end a bit crooked and stick the other end into your hose fitting. Turn on full pressure. Should work the same as the old sewer well washer. You may need to experiment with the length.
Cheers

Re: Our "New to Us" Winnie
After buying all the bits while doing a bit of Hammer Shop therapy, came home and realised that strange water inlet in the Looky Loo waste water drain elbow aims straight up and into the black tank.supersparky wrote: ↑Thu Oct 30, 2025 10:48 am Terry, with your wacker hose for black tank, from the Good Morning thread. Once both tanks had drained, I connected the garden hose, looky loo flush tap closed, mains water tap on full, macerator pump running, turned the Looky Loo tap on and the water blast went straight up into the tank and could be heard hitting the top of the inside of the tank ...... I didn't video what came out, let's just say it removed a lot of what had remained ..... so that will now be part of the tank drain and flush program

Re: Our "New to Us" Winnie
Found this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=toQVgTKnZAo&t=381s, can this bloke talk and sell ..... but seeing what was required to get the engine out
..... I'm hoping doesn't mean what I have to do to change the water pump
If that is the case, the Winnie will be off the road for some time, the engine out and the Lexus V6 and L110 hybrid transmission will be going back in it's place ....
