the injector pump only rotates once. 1 turn for 6 squirts.

Try it there will be enough in the pump to see the little squirts.


Study the picture.... the cam moves the pump piston on every rotation. (The other 5 pump pistons also squirt every full rotation.)

:Ok now you're making sense..I think ? where does the fuel go on the other 5 strokes.

Look at the picture.
It's a piston pump. Think like an air compressor pump.

There are no "other 5 strokes". 1 stroke (up and down) for every revolution of the piston pump

As the cam rotates, it builds pressure by lifting the piston to force the injector to open and then it squirts into the engine.

Then the cam drops of the cliff and sucks more fuel in from the lift pump. then it repeats.

One full fuel pump cycle for every 6 (1-6) piston ignitions.

No nightmares about 6BG1's not starting and having to disassemble again.... only to discover the fuel lines reversed!

That pic of the pump doesn't do it for me Jon , can you send a pic with the words that are under the pump . I can only see part of them .

No Jon haven't been able to do anything with this cook knee , ultrasound and x-ray today .

I s'pose you were gunna tell me about your crook knee this arvo, when we were having a yack. But we got distracted.

Well I gave up waiting for David's call..........
Knee seems to be working , I have now removed the oil cooler cover as seen in the accompanying pics .
Total of 33 bolts to get the bugga off .
Jon looks like the cover is fine no pin holes . Two of the top bolts was only finger tight and soon as I put a spanner on them they leaked coolant .
So even tho I had to take it off to put new gasket on I'm glad that I don't have to replace the cover .
No more for today don't want to put to much on my knee .
