Re: Where we're gonna be...
We’ll be using a more direct route which John & Faye showed us:
Finley, Ouyen,Pinaroo, Loxton.
On Wednesday while Girt is undergoing surgery, we’re heading to Mannum. Brian has the boot lasts!
If you behave yourself, Bruce, we may grace your home with our presence!
ps. Forecast is for rain next Wednesday.

Girt has now been released from her stay at Loxton and is now heading east with a strong tail wind.

What is this John- van gone?
Time is passing too quickly so live life to the full with your spouse/partner while you still have she/he by your side.

Re: Where we're gonna be...
Arrived home @ 14:15 today.
Best fuel economy we’ve had in years!
Strong Westerly tailwind virtually all the way!!!
Filled our 200 litre tank yesterday morning before we left John’s place, and reached home (750km) without topping up.
In places, the westerlies stirred up so much dust from the paddocks that visibility was down to less than one kilometre!
However, the tailwind helped give us the best fuel economy ever recorded in Girt... and we had a heavier car on the trailer than Jim the Junior Jeep.
========================
I want to publicly thank John & Faye for all the help they have given us since first meeting them late last year.
Faye offered retired Loxton artwork to help establish our fledgling Christmas Decorations Committee.
When we struck trouble with Girt in April, they went out of their way to help us, despite being busy renovating their house.
When the suspension damage was detected, John offered us free storage for Girt while waiting for the parts to be manufactured and sent to us, even moving Girt into the sun daily to keep the batteries charged!
Without their unfailing help and hospitality, we would have been in deep do-do.
Heartfelt thanks to both of you.

Re: Where we're gonna be...
Brian,
Thanks for organising the boot lasts for me.
Had a pleasant visit with Brian, Bruce & Wendy, and T1 & Margaret. (The TV survived
)
En route to Loxton & Mannum, we paused for a driver change in a small country town with an odds-&-sods shop. They had two boot lasts I didn’t have.
So this is the haul from our trip:
(The three on the left may look the same, but there are subtle differences.)

Re: Where we're gonna be...
No news being good news, Ray, I assume Girt has fully recovered from the knee operation. Most people I know who have had a knee operation eventually have the other knee done, so, I was thinking - in the middle of the night, as you do - whether you might source a spare for the left side given the time it takes to get a replacement.

Re: Where we're gonna be...
Ray, do you just collect boot lasts or trade in collectables?
Shirley & Bruce.
