What a stinker of weather for the past few days, the wind sounded like rain at one stage but when the rain did come it actually soaked right into the ground Having a stump remover man coming this week to get rid of the big stump from the tree we had cut down so I can get the bus in a different spot. Watching the BOB's and they have the same rotten weather as we are having here, they are up in the clouds doing a mountain of cat 1 climb at 7%, been a few prangs and some of the top riders have had to abandon the race. So far my boy Wault V.A. is in the break away group so hope he continues to improve 91ks to go.Have been going through the wardrobe again and have another 3 rubbish bags for the op shop next week. Supper time then bed so take care if out and about. Goodnight everyone x :D Goodnight Shirley x :D

Dot, you need no excuses for a Dottie day mate. :D As you say, the weather is not helping to get us out of those warm, cosy beds. xxxx

Today started out like any other freezing, high wind day. The sun has tried to visit a few times too. I started out on some sewing jobs and then his nibs pointed out of the window at one of the locals boats. It's an old navy landing craft and the poor old owner has had some bad runs with it lately. It was listing badly and looked like it had taken on so much water, that anytime would be it's last breath, The waves were huge and lapping over the sides of the boat, so it really did not look good. After a few phone calls, we couldn't get hold of the owner. I finally rang our rich lady next door and she was right onto it. She hopped in her kayak (oh to be still 50 again) and sussed out the problems. While out there, she knew it was beyond her, but she so kindly tried. She is a yachting person, so has contacts. She rang maritime, only to be told "there is a whole lake full of sad stories today" and no offer to help, but they gave her another number to ring. Within half an hour, maritime arrived and did an amazing job of clearing out the boat. By the time that we finally found the owner, he arrived just in time to see the maritime boat tidy up and leave the scene. His poor old boat. is now properly above the waterline. I don't know how much damage the motor will have taken, but I am sure that we will get the story into this week.

The day of leisurely sewing went out the window, but we had visitors who needed to watch from our dining room (out of the icy winds) and it was really a nice catch up with the neighbours. Truly, living in such a small area, make us all be nice to our neighbours, but this was a real community effort. I only wish that we had noticed the boat was sinking a bit earlier.

That's all from the dramas of lair living,

Another Dotty day or are you out n about in the bus? Stay warm wherever you are Dot xxxx

Shirley, you deserve a medal for being out in that icy wind yesterday. At least today, it wasn't quite as strong, but just as freezing cold.

We had a late sleep in and were eating breakfast, when the vision of the poor old tub came into view. The boat is almost a far down in the water as she was yesterday WTF? Started on the ring around, just as the mooring people arrived. They took a very short time to pump the old girl out and get her much higher in the water than the maritime did yesterday. The time was so quick and it looked differently higher than it did yesterday. The mooring man drove off, after pumping out the boat. We were like, it must have a hole in it to have filled up so fast, why is it not being towed away.

They took off toward our main jetty, and then sped up across the lake to the local marina. Half an hour later and they returned. Pulled up the mooring leads and gave them a good clean and then fiddled some more. Everything stopped for the hour while they had lunch. Truly these guys work at half the speed of normal people and the lunch time took forever. They fiddled a bit more with the mooring and left again. I started to make us some lunch and they returned. Truly, today has been one heck of a saga.

This time they were climbing all over the old tub and fiddling with some mechanical bits. The penny dropped for us. These boats have a self activating bilge pumping system and it must have died. Once all the fiddling was finished, they left the boat alone and she has stayed high above water all the rest of the day.

I had a sewing job that I needed to use the fancy embroidery machine for. Pulled it out and started to set it up, but the manual is missing and I can't lift up the presser foot. After a long search, I gave up and started to do the online search for the manual. Found it and tried to download it. My computer told me that the program needed to access java script and it was not available. I remember a while ago that it asked me to download a newer version of java. It couldn't do that until the old version was deleted, so that happened, but the latest version must not have downloaded. Not my day. Computer and I are just not computing. I rang the tech guy, he will know what version I should have and he can do it for me...I am teched out.

Tonight, I came back to the computer, found a different version of the machine manual, have downloaded it, no probs and printed out the parts that I need and know I have access to the rest of the manual when needed. What it does show me is that the machine has not been happily stored and maybe the bit is broken. I will use the manual tomorrow to see what is needed and if repairs are needed, it will happen soon.

Another not so calm day in the lair.

Deborah, you are lucky to have a proactive crew that does pump outs and repairs on your lake. Up here, nothing happens until the boat sinks. Then a salvage crew will turn up and do a refloat mission or salvage tow away. Things like that are never done quickly either.
Cheers

We saw and heard the "Rainbow Warrior" being sunk from our place and although it is just a boat they all have stories to tell. I wonder if the owner will get his boat back to what is was? Recently I have noticed my finger nails have been splitting right down my nail, I have to cut them right down to the skin but they still come back cracked, they catch on everything = ouch. The stump digger man coming tomorrow morn, that will be noisy for sure. Might put some more mulch down for the winter if feet are going to contribute. Deborah the Jayco boys are doing quite well and have won a few stages. My boy W.V.A is also coming back into his form. I am interested in the housing in Sth Italy, all huddled together, same coloured houses with a sprinkling of coloured ones and most houses are 3-4 stories high. Pretty although I don't like their menu of horses. Time to lock up outside and hit the warmed up bed. Take care on the roads and all the sickies get better asap. Goodnight everyone x :D Goodnight David and Terrie trying to sleep on that long haul flight xx .

Dot, the finger nails may be a sign that is important for your gp to check up on. Could be diet lacking something or nothing, but worth the chat. Stay warm xxxx

Jon, these people are all our friends, so of course I will lookout for them. I am sure that if we needed help, they would be here in a flash too.

David, I don't think that I would have the same pull as our rich lady next door. She has been a big name in local yachting for years and of course, she has higher up contacts than I could never expect to reach. She kindly pulled a few very thick strings to get maritime to come.

The poor old boat is looking a lot better today. I do think the problem is lack of general maintenance. The older owner (in his 80's) is so involved with his own family problems that he has no time for himself. He is a lovely ex marine, so we all have a lot of time for him, when he is at home. Maybe we will see some more attention to the boat in the coming weeks. He does do the odd run out to the boat, in his tinny (rowing) at ridiculous o'clock in the middle of the night (4 and 5 am have been suggested), so we wouldn't even hear him if did go out to the old girl.

Today was a get back on track sort of day. After checking things on the sewing machine along with the newly printed manual, I realise that it needs some work done on it. The sewing machine man is about an hour and a bit away, so it will have to be good weather when we start out to do the long drive.
I sorted out the computer with a lot of support from my techy man. He must really think I am useless. He told me to look up to the right corner of the screen and then I was looking at the left corner and couldn't find what he was asking me to click on. All is good, we had a laugh and he went off to continue his day.

That was the day for us, cold and dry and not too much wind.

Deb,
You’re not alone in your left/right confusion.
I ofter have to tell SWMBO, “No, your OTHER left!”… especially when she’s reversing the car. 🙄 😊

Try explaining L) or R) hand down to whom I don't list-- to (most times) Never mind Deborah us females always win out. At least you got there is the end. I have a sewing machine but I have no clue what those instructions mean but that doesn't worry me , bit like the oven . The stump man did a great job. I got the bus sun screens out and bugger me the mice had been using them as their toilet so all of them are on the fence and 2 clothes lines to air out before I get the hose onto them. I am gathering all the eucalyptus leaves up and some other rubbish that has blown in ready for my yearly smoke the neighborhood out, makes up for the dog barking. George has been using the saw bench to cut up the smaller wood I bought up from the stacks down the back 3 wheelbarrows full. BOB's are heading for the mountains tonight can see the snow on the top they do that tomorrow. Guess who has been given a gofer? ME and all it needs is a battery $300-400 better than some thousands. Will be greatly appreciated esp for shopping. I am doing a Dave, put a container in the laundry trough to wash and I can't find it, I reckon G has snaffled it from me but he denies it hmmmmm. Might hide his hidden cake until he confesses. Stay safe everybody if on the roads and all the sickies get well soon. Goodnight everyone x :D Goodnight Dave and Terrie xx :D :D
