I had a terrible night, G kept tossing and turning, pulling the blankets all over his side and Brian was snoring in between purring in my ear then having a sneezing fit then paddling on my face  The painters were here at 7am and finished at 2pm , 2nd coat tomorrow and all done. Good news from nagging, the specialist rooms got the info they wanted yesterday and today I rang to see if they got it and guess who has an appointment next Tuesday? The triage was done by the head neurosurgeon. Then the diesel heater pooped itself, so G spent some time removing it so another can be put in. My missing post from last night was also about some chicken kebabs G picked up from DRAKES supermarket on his way home from Mt Barker he had rang me to say he would be a bit late for tea and seeing the meat pie from the butchers was taking too long to thaw out I said ok. Once again they were bloody terrible some nice bits but majority were scrappy stuff. Today I sent a complaint to their head office so there will be a refund for sure. Off for a shower now then into bed I need sleep  Goodnight & Stay warm and safe everyone x :D Goodnight Jd hope you are feeling better today, keep up with those pain meds x :D

Can you ask George to hold onto the old one for me please? The one in the Mazda ran for maybe a week at the most until the plastic body got crushed against the fan when the navigator tried to use the heater as a foot rest
Maybe I can make one out of the two and have spares for both of us ...... I had two spare igniters for those cheap heaters, but they were in the Fuso .....

T1,
One would assume that diesel heater igniters should be fireproof…

Ah, but the wire, plastic connector cover and rubber cap (to prevent some idiot shocking themselves because they were fiddling inside the unit with it switched) are still flammable, making the carbon rod with the wire inside, kinda useless on its own ;)

...... and anyway, if it was fireproof, how would the diesel heater ignite? :?

Painting is finished but there is still work to be done like cleaning up the "paint dust" then to arrange the carpet cleaner to come and do his job so the bus has been a very handy thing to have in the back yard. probably be in here for another week or so. The manager from the supermarket I sent email to re the chicken kebabs rang at 0745hrs to apologize and told me to bring receipt in and he will give me some kebabs for free plus the $$$ I paid. Happy with that deal. Deborah how did you slow cook that leg of lamb? Do you remember way back the boiled mutton with parsley sauce, carrots, beans, and mashed . The hosp did that for a meal (1972) I quite liked that, any ideas on that meal? G found a poor top notch pigeon today, didn't look too good so he put in in a cardboard box with a blanket , food and water but it died so a funeral service tomorrow :( in between the fruit trees along with our galah ) (Nora). Bernie pass on our best wishes to Carol for a successful outcome with her knee op, and you make sure the house is kept up to scratch for when she comes home. Deborah get stuck into those repairers, Shirley stay away from bowls during this crappy weather and Jd no nose blowing. All the sickies get well soon. Goodnight everyone x :D goodnight Wimmera Jack x :D

Dot, very slow cook leg of lamb is one of my specialities. I have a slow cooker from Sunbeam that also browns the roast. So it gets set to brown first, for a good 20 minutes and that gives the lovely brown crusty edges. I turn it to slow cook on high for 4 hours, toss in half a cup of water, to act as a steamer and off it goes. Once time is up, I test for tenderness. If the whole leg doesn't fall off the big fork, it goes back in for another hour. Once done, meat comes out to sit under foil while I turn the slowcooker onto brown (super high) and make the gravy in the slow cooker juices. Veg get done in the air fryer, so no oven needed and no big dishes to wash up. The hospital meal would be similar meat just pour over a white sauce with parsely through it. Probably get a packet mix of that stuff, I used it when learning how to cook things properly. But the packet mixes were ok back in the day. enjoy xxxx

I had such a bad day yesterday that I stayed away from here. I had a long wait to get my call answered by the insurance company (50 minutes), only to be told that once the van is at the repairers they don't interfere. Suggested to ring the repairers and ask for a senior person. After another 25 minute wait, I was speaking with a different lady, but she didn't give her rank and number (as asked) The paperwork still has not left their assessment desk. You can only imagine how blue the air was here, but I didn't swear at her. I offered to go to their office and complete the forms for her, that finding a price online does not take a week. I got all the rubbish about, their system not working that way. She was most surprised when I told her that their system needed repairing and that they are causing us too much stress. She promised to get back to me by close of business. Not this month she didn't.

Next issue was our foxtel box. We have two of them. One is working with all the channels but the second one is only getting the very basic set and none of the two hours later ones. After an hour on hold, I was talking to a person who spoke unintelligable English who was very little help. It took us a long time to figure out that he was telling us that foxtel no longer has service technicians who come to your home. All service is done through the internet and that they no longer do things through the satelite. We should be using our set top boxes with the internet. No we don't have the internet as such. How can we get what we are paying for? You look up google and find someone local who may be able to help to change the wiring in the faulty box. It needs another lead into the wall to get the plus 2 channels. Apparently our main box has four wires from the wall and the bedroom one only has three.
I am sure that you can all imagine the answers that I wrote tonight in the survey, "how did we do?" If his lordship had no interests in horses and sports, I would have told them how to insert the boxes into their anatomy. He loves his foxtel, so I suffered the phone call but not from the stupid survey. Bet I will hear nothing from that survey either. No respect for people who have been customers for almost 40 years, so not happy Jan.

Today was just another cold, windy and crappy day in the lair.

Deborah thanks for the cooking lesson, I don't have a slow cooker any more so do you think I could do that lamb in a dream pot? Did they used to boil the lamb in a pot?? Re your van having nothing done is go down to the repair place being bouncy and smiley and just pop in the office and ask the receptionist to see the manager, she will ask what for then you reply "it's a surprise OR it's a personal matter, she will ask your name so just give your first or middle name tell her 0. If he is not there say you will come back another time but remind her it is a secret.works for me when needed. Hope you have settled down and the air is sweet again, but don't people drive you mad. If bushiness's are so busy and have such long wait times for phones to be answered why don't they employ people to answer the phones?? Today has been so dam cold I didn't even have a shower. Jd hope your snoz pain has eased.. Electric blanket is calling me but first I have Brian's pill to give him. Keep warm everyone and safe on the roads if out and about. Get well soon to all the sickies. Goodnight everyone x :D Goodnight RossP x :D

Dot, I don't know about dream pots, but why not get a small piece of lamb and give it a go? The pre-boiling the lump of meat should give it a head start. Let me know how it goes. The repairer is over an hour away, so not a likely event. The other problem is that if I can get that close to these lazy people, I may cause them some verbal abuse and that wont get us any closer to getting it done. xxxx

Today was almost pleasant and we did a few odd jobs around the yard. Nothing exciting, just jobs. Tryin to get him enthusiastic enough to get our replacement clothesline into the ground. Our jack hammer is not strong enough to crack the cement and I don't think that he is strong enough to use a stronger jackhammer. He agrees, so a phone call or two will be necessary, to get help.

My little red rav 4 is going to the mechanics to get her annual service and rego check done. So we go in 2 cars and drop mine off. Then we will be going to the op shop to deliver quite a few plastic bags of donations. The rest of the day may be spent on the phone to the repairers.

A sunny day so washing done, bus cleaned out a bit,G did some weed killing and he was a naughty boy. He got the ladder and climbed onto the house roof to see if he could see if a tile was loose or maybe it had been moved when the roof was done as I had found a water mark down a wall but he didn't find anything. Will get the roof man to come and check as G can't get up into the ceiling these days.G heads off the city for his special nerve conduction test at 0800hrs so that means leaving home by 0700hrs and that is not me  I have got dyke cut at Mt Barker at 1045hrs and that is more likable. I will be going with G on Wednesday to see what my back man has to say, I will be asking him to bulk bill as his first appointment was $410 then you get a piddly few $$ back from medicare. Glad my back op was Workcover and at over $140k in 2014 imagine what today's bill would be? It is so cold tonight , a clear sky so a nice cold frost in the morning. I did a little google on the lamb recipe but there was heaps of different off shore recipes so more looking into. Off to bed now , stay warm and safe and Goodnight everyone x :D Goodnight WayneP x :D
