Nightly Goodnight Everyone

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Dot, is Brian having a good holiday yet? xxxx

Ncle George, that sounds like a very poor tradesman. We have a lovely caravan angel, who comes to our house and has always done a great job. Please save his name for next time...Business is called Caravan Wizard, his name is Chris Dyer, phone 0488-949-273. He was trained by a friend of ours who was the service manager at Jayco Newcastle and came with a great reference from our mate. He is reasonable with prices and has never let us down.

It really did feel like a return to Paradise when we arrived home today. Van is unpacked and still on the street. The rego papers were in the letterbox, so we had to get the pink slip arranged asap. It is getting done tomorrow, so that was a good phone call. The new van is too big for our bendy driveway and we knew that before the hunt was on for real. It will go down the steep hill, but not enough room to turn into the backyard. I am not unhappy about that, because we both hold our breath every time that he drives it down the drive. I had checked the prices of storage before we looked at the van and that is not great, but could have been worse. The guy has no immediate spaces, but always loses vans over Christmas when people tend to have their last big trip before selling their vans. I have put our names down for the next available space and will keep hoping for that to happen soon. Until then, the new van isn't coming for a few more weeks and before we know, it will be us heading off for our usual Christmas with the kids in the
new van.

The rego is due to be paid on the same day as we collect the replacement van. Even tho Watsons are a pretty big company, I will pay the rego so that we are not driving an unregistered van and because I refuse to be petty. Had a laugh at the rego number of the new one. The current one is TR--AK and we have never given our vans a name. New one is TR**QM, we reckon she has to be Queen Mary (of Denmark of course)

Good one Deborah. You are much more considerate than most people around here, putting your van in storage when not in use. Any street on the Gold Coast that has multi story housing, is cluttered with boats, vans, jetskis, small motorhomes etc. The only rule is that it is less than 7 metres long and has current rego.
Cheers

Had a wheel alignment done on the motorhome today after the front struts/shockies were replaced. All good to take on a quick trip again. Had a lovely visit from Ray and Joy( and the girls ) and Dot and George ( and Brian ). Ray left a couple of days ago and should be near home by now and Dot left this morning for a slow wander back home. Starting to set up for the Loxton Xmas Lights display on Saturday so that must be another year coming to the end. Goodnight All Cheers John

So Dot, are you out of that gravel pit yet? xxxx

Thanks Jon, yes we do feel that our luck is changing.

David, we will leave the new van on the street until we can get into the storage place, or when we need to pack/unpack. We live on a fairly busy street and are worried that some of the locals may have a go at graffiti or some other nasty damage, if we abuse the space. We seem to live in the "better" end of town, but there is a rough element living further down town and don't think we can risk it for too long.

Today was a sort of calm down day. His lordship has been waiting for shavershop to put a specific razor on sale and today was the day. We up and drove to Tuggerah (45 min away) and did that shopping easily. I did some research on some storage containers for the new van in Silly Solly's (stupid name for a shop, but great prices). I am not buying any thing until we have the van at home, but want to have some options in mind.

I tried to water blast the stink bugs out of the lemon tree with a bit of high pressure water. It certainly disturbed them. They all flew off, but many still returned later. I am leaving the hose spread out across the yard in the sunshine, so that tomorrow the first blast will be very hot and it may help them to stay away for good, otherwise, I will be giving them a jet each evening for a while and see if that makes any difference.

safe travels anyone out on the roads

night all xxx

his is a great free stop, went into town today YES the op shop, got a couple of kitchen things and then spent the rest of the day keeping out of the sun. Have no tv nor sat coverage and who knows why as we are right in town ? last night 11pm I opened the window and yelled "Please turn that thing off" a caravan with genny going. If for a sleep machine then bugger off away from others otherwise pay for a powered site.. Inconsiderate idiots are everywhere. Hitting the road towards home tomorrow :( yep more medicals to attend. Brian has been just a good pussy cat, sleeping most of the time and doing his business in the bush in a deep hole and covering it up unlike some humans.Your new van sounds just right Deborah so enjoy it.Goodnight everyone x :D Goodnight and thanks John and Faye xx :D :D

Glad that your holiday is being kind to you Dot. Of course Brian is behaving like a well mannered pet. he's smarter than some humans too. xxxx

I spent a lot of time trying on the new happy pants and trying to mark where the hems should be. I really struggle with that part of the job. Anyways the five pair of happy pants are all marked and ready for the sewing and unsewing phase tomorrow I hope.

I have the roofer coming on Monday to have a look at why our roof is leaking only in some heavy storms. I have almost totally dried the damp carpet with a heater, but now the door to the lakeside is wide open and shall stay that way tonight . just to get the place freshened up.

We had a spectacular storm late afternoon and tonight. The lightning was huge and then we hardly had any real rain. Definitely one that was pretty to watch as the best lightning was coming from across the lake and mostly we were getting reflections and sparks at the same times.

Nighty night xxx

Deborah, we have the same sort of problem after heavy rain.
Our house is about 50 years old now, and the tiled roof has settled a bit. When we have flat rain in the high winds it just blows in under the tiles. It must be a common problem around our subdivision as quite a few places have changed the roof to colourbond recently.
Cheers

The down side of a colourbond roof it the noise in heavy rain and hail ..... The noise in the workshop was beyond tolerable when it rained .....
The old bull nosed verandah all around the house, as seen on the older houses, was to combat that problem and keep the place cooler in summer, but I thought these days, they made high sided guttering facia that stood above and below the guttering to stop that wind and rain getting under the tiles and sarking and causing roof leaks.

The house in Day St Lake Illawarra had the old concrete tiles and the rain would actually soak through them, so we paid the proper money, not the cheapest and not the overpriced quotes, and they reseal the capping and gave the roof two coats .... made a real difference ..... until the tree removal people, I expect the first shonky lot, dropped a piece and broke a tile ..... we had a roof leak into the main bedroom just above the window ..... once that was replaced .... all good
