That's a lovely shot of you and Helen, stay smiling Dottie. You starting to feel excited to be escaping soon? xxxx
Our first real adventure with the new van started off well. We left home super early and missed a lot of the traffic. His long cut in the back blocks certainly did miss quite a large bottleneck so he was happy. We arrived on site with plenty of time before lunch. This is a fairly straight forward site to back on to, but his nibs likes to be precise with this one. The wheels must be within a centimetre of the cement slab and the van must be in alignment with the edges of said slab. His demands not mine. After many backings and froings he was finally satisfied. My lips are sealed, but it is in exactly the same spot that I guided him onto on the first run.
Next was taking the van off the patrol. Took a while fiddling with the van still being much lower than the tug. Once off, he went to drive the patrol down beside the van. I heard the icecream truck jingle and then an almighty crash. One patrol into a very low electrical box....box decimated, wires everywhere and we had no power. Not a scratch on the patrol. It took the park a few hours to restore the power, but all is well now.
Tomorrow we will face the crowds and try to get the Christmas groceries done.

Terry how quickly you forget someone, geeeze
Deborah you have christened the new van then
Men, did you get the blame for the wrecking box?? We love watching caravan ers tooing and frowing to get just right , great entertainment when she starts yelling at him via the walkie talkie then all hell breaks out. Have a relaxing time if you can. Probably get told off but stiff cheese. I know the Bondi shootings were horrendous but it has been a week now and every time you turn the news on it is rehashing it all the time. Another thing is the man that got the gun off one of the gunmen got presented with a cheque of $2.5mill. Why if we have medicare etc? I can't figure it out when there were many people helping during the shooting like the 14 yr old girl that covered a couple of young children and she herself had been shot. What are these Royal Commissions actually for? we know it was a father and son went to Indonesia to train then they came back to Oz and carried out this despicable act in the name of religion, killing and maiming people because of their faith?? and even people not of their religion. Bloody world has gone mad for sure. Are you ready for departure tomorrow Terry? The clothes/ linen I took out of the MH I soaked them in the stain remover stuff and the amount of dirt that came out of it all, might of been the feral water we last to do the washing. I did a big tidy up of the spare garden pots and gave the blower a good work out. Even buried a little honey eater and put a pot over it so nothing can did it up. OK goodnight everyone x

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
We have has some rain at last and very grateful for that. Nothing done today. But we did have a very friendly mag pie settle on the lawn so I said "hi Maggie" and then he hopped towards me so I asked G to get a tsp of Brian's food which I broke up bent down with a small bit on my hand and he hopped up and took the meat off me and came back for more. The meat was raw roo (human grade) mixed with Vets all natural dog/cat cereal/vegetables stuff.. Off to the ENT man for check up tomorrow and am expecting the same news I had from the oncologist. When are they going to get some decent stuff on tv? Bring back those old shows like The Carol Burnett show, Benny Hill, Love thy neighbour, Ain't half Hot Mum, Alf Garnett, Steptoe and Son, On the bus's, and all the others that made us laugh. Watched "Munity on the Bus's early this morning, I woke G up snorting while laughing but it was so funny .I presume T1 has left the yard, but how far and what has fallen off? Goodnight everyone x

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Dot, you've met his lordship, he takes full responsibility for his smashing the electrical box, even tho I reckon he was badly distracted by the ice cream truck. I was luckily inside the van, so had no effect on his driving. I still see these 18inch high electrical boxes all round the park and wonder how many other 4x4s have decimated them. Just impossible to see them from inside the vehicle. As he says we know where all the obstacles are on this site, he just lost concentration. When are you departing? Good luck with the ENT xxxx
We both slept until 10 am and it felt good. But we woke to a 40 degree day and decided that the main grocery shop could wait until tomorrow. That left me with no fresh food for dinner, so we had to eat out. The local bowlo does a really nice all you can shovel Chinese food and it was yummo. Just what we needed and I didn't have to cook.
During the afternoon a bit of a breeze blew over, so we decided to face the hammer shop. He bought the fittings that he had researched online, from the stickon aisle...I have not had success with those things on the outside walls, but he would not use a hammer on the van if he can get out of it. The hangers and dowels are in place and after 24 hours, the curtains can be hung. I bought a bundle of stick on hooks for the silly things that just need to be tamed. The charging cords all hang everywhere, so now they have spots to be tidier and the calendar (yes I am still using a proper wall calendar that I can see where we need to be every day) has a spot out of main sight but we can see it from the bed easy enough. I have used the command hooks in all our vans. They always get removed neatly with no marks, so they are what I needed again.
It's way too hot to sleep, but I have the air con doing a great job of cooling us down, so maybe an early-ish night again.
stay safe on the roads, hope you all get there in one piece, as well as the vehicles remaining usable

If you have trouble getting the self sticking things to stick permanently, a squirt of spray contact and both surfaces, let it dry, then apply the "self adhesive" item ..... that citrus base "Desolve-it" will get it back off .... as long as you aren't in a hurry
Good night all, a hot sticky night here in Balranald in the visitor centre RV overnight parking area .... no air movement and no power to drive a fan or the air con either .... so a sleepless night is expected, but hopefully, a clean run through the rego inspection tomorrow, time is the enemy this close to Christmas

Deborah,
re curtain rails.
I've used Ikea rails, they are brilliant. I've mounted a single rail flat the wall and used a little aluminum rod in the top slot to join them.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Yes Dot, I have slightly recovered. Sheets changing day and washing towels as well... that's enough to do on a stinking hot day. xxxx
Finally made it safely to NSW Terry? Hope the van is passed with a minimum of fuss.
Thanks for the great ideas Jon and Terry. We have a solution that's not quite perfect, but at least I can have some privacy with the curtains pulled at the windows with the air moving through the van.
We woke to a sparky visiting to finish the job that he completed as a temporary one on Saturday. He fiddled around for a couple of hours and left. No words to us. After a while, he had not returned and we still had no power. I stupidly rang the office to cop a mouthful. It was our fault the power was out and she didn't care if we had power or not. She told me we were lucky that they hadn't demanded we pay the bill. I know they have insurance for such accidental damages. I calmed her down enough for her to finally say that she would send a groundsman. Poor man, must have copped a tongue lashing too. He came and looked at it, scratched his head, left. Returned quickly and lifted up the electrical cover (like he could do anything)and finally told us that he would get the sparky to return. We finally left to at least get some food for the fridge. When we returned, Mr sparks had returned and we had power. Horrible day really.
Our Jayco family friends came over from Gloucester to visit and stayed for a couple of hours. It was unexpected and so nice. They also have a 20 foot van, but with bunks, so ours felt huge to them. We had a lot of laughs and they left us smiling. A ham sandwich for dinner was as much as we could muster.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Must be that time of the year for cranky nutters, Maybe the boss lady should put a pole or something that can be seen in front of their power box's. Nice you had visitors to settle you down'. You know men really do have periods and personapause the way they carry on sometimes. Today on way to the city some turkey on my left just zoomed out from the other side of the road and luckily I was really awake, missed by .... much. Then we got to the neck mans rooms to find a no pay disabled park
Went straight in and he made a note to contact a friend (a specialist dentist) to see me rather than the nit wit I was sent off to. He then felt
my neck. looked in and down my throat and said "I see it has been 8 years since we started this journey together so today I am officially giving you a full clearance of your cancer"
With that he said "see you in 6 mths, have a great Xmas and new year and try this for your burning tongue" It was a spray of Diflam for sore throats but try it on tongue for when eating, but be careful as it is an anesthetic" also is like sepacol. G had his back X/R for check up . We got home at 1730hrs and Brian was still on the bed and same position.
June / July 1026 is our departure Nth.Deborah I went looking at ceiling fans today and saw your brand on special $148 as end of stock and only 3 but different styles hmmmm one for bedroom?? Goodnight everyone x
