Deborah & sewers I have both G and myself are finding that getting them in the dooner covers just about impossible these days so do you think by sewing just plain sheets around the doona (completely)and then just put a nice bed cover over the top? hope you understood that. Did a bit of the garden again today but nothing much just a couple of loads of washing. Going to take the Gman to go look at those fans I saw, the ones we have now are over 20 yrs so need updating. Rang my NZ M8 tonight she has the flu and luckily couldn't talk for long but oh boy does she need her ears tested. Tonight for pudding we busted out the Xmas pudding, couldn't wait and it was very nice loaded with cream Going to start doing the trifle tomorrow. The landscaper man did as he promised, left job description and costing of new lawn, G is eager to get it done but I say our santa anna lawn is already spreading and repairing the bald patches HE made. What would you lot do? Cost for new lawn $2,500, v let old lawn repair? Off to bed now be safe on the roads and Goodnight everyone x :D Goodnight Ray x :D

Dot, methinks you had some good news today and a new dentist to boot. That makes the crazies on the road almost worth the drive. Hope you have a restful day tomorrow. Let the lawn repair itself and be patient. Doona covers can be easily managed. Push the bottom corners of the doona into the bottom corners of the cover . Put a peg on each corner over the doona and cover. Get the tall man to stand on the bed and shake the cover right over the rest of the doona . Do up the catches and toss onto bed. Extra bed coverings in Summer would be too heavy and hot. All advice is free and comes with no responsibility. :D xxxx

Today was yet again bloody hot. I don't seem to be coping in the heat like I used to. We did a couple of loads of washing in the new washing machine. It seems that it only does two days worth of clothes in a cycle, hence needing to do 2 loads. It wont be difficult to do a load every second day and I wont need to pack as many clothes.

We decided that the main plan for the day was to get as much of the fresh foods bought and not need to return to the big shops tomorrow. But last night, our son sent us a text, asking us to go to the hammer shop and buy 5 packs of tiny surprise bears each...only if we were going to be near the shop. He is very familiar with the shops here, so he knew that we would be in the same car park. We each bought the demanded 5 bears, but what he didn't warn is that the damned things are $12 each. He's lucky it's Christmas or normally his nibs would have only bought a couple.

As I was suffering from the heat, his lordship left me in the car and he did the chasing around to coles. As he was hunting for strawberries that were not there , a staffer told him that the main delivery truck for today is still on the freeway broken down and they may not get their delivery until tomorrow. So then his nibs had to high tail it to ww to get the rest of his list sorted. He said ww was packed and the people all seemed cranky. He was happy to return to the van and relax while I invented spaces in the fridge for the foods. While we now have a 2 door fridge, the actual fridge part doesn't seem to be as big as the last fridge. In previous years we have brought a small bar fridge to help with the extra stuff, but we decided not to bring it, as our daughter isn't coming this year. Bad mistake, we still need the extra fridge, but will be creative with the esky instead.

Keith, may you have a wonderful Christian celebration of the birth of our Lord. xxx

night all xxx

Well Dot, has the grass grown some more with this heat and your watering it? Keep it up mate. Hope the heat hasn't gotten to you yet. xxxx

Our Christmas crazy has just begun. Our son arrived at lunchtime with his wife and caravan, followed quickly by our granddaughter in her little jimny. She loved the 8 hour drive. but is very tired now. As both the ladies had their birthdays last week, we have their birthday dinner tonight. Pavlova and chocolate mud cake all round and we are all stuffed as well as tired.
I spent the day cooking a couple of chookens with the stuffing made from secret herbs and spices. They were dismembered and refrigerated, pretty quickly. They take up a lot less fridge space now and are all ready to be served for lunch tomorrow. Then onto the dressing for Changs noodle salad, that's ready to pour over the coleslaw mix at lunchtime, so enough has been done for tonight.

Our grandson and girlfriend will be here for dinner and then the real crazy will get going.

hope you all have the best Christmas and a healthy, wealthy and happy new year xxx

Geeeze Deborah you will be extra buggered after all that cooking and running around. I bought one of those premixed coleslaws with the dressing supplied in the packet, Oh boy that dressing is so spicy / hot I could taste that but it was far to hot so it got chucked, suggest you taste the dressings first. Another 6 huge juicy peaches on the ground today and also 10 more lemons also on the ground, so juicing them and freezing them in the ice trays. Have done most of the trifle custard is cooling ready to go on then the cream and fruit. Could not find any kiwi fruit at all today.I have decided to keep up the weed fight with the lawn, Next time a certain person, even winks at the lawn he will be mulched into it for sure. Had a surprise visit today, the magpie that came and took Brian's food from my hand yesterday well it was here again today but with some extras, 2 more adults and a baby one still running behind the first maggie asking it for food. Greedy beasts  Also another dead honey eater so I buried that one next to the one.The road is very quiet tonight wait for tomorrow night when the hangovers will be heading home. That Xmas pudding I said was nice was finished off tonight and it was from Coles . Might get another one boxing day.Hope everyone has a peaceful and happy Christmas with or without family yes and even those bots that are always on here . Goodnight everyone x :D Goodnight VicA x :D Q/ Why doesn't Santa have any kids? A/ Because he only comes once a year and when he does it is down a chimney. (letter coming)

Friends would buy the chicken bits on sale that ran out of use by date, and would cook them up for their magpie family .... started with a single young one, then introduced a mate a few weeks later ..... then, only the mate would visit, grabs some food and take off ..... soon enough, mum returned with the youngster, and then the cycle continued, ever increasing numbers .... I wonder what the extended family did for meals when they moved house ......

Dot, do check with wires about correct food for maggies. My dear old aunt used. to feed kookas with nutrigrain, which she bought on special and always had a lot of "Spare packets" in the kitchen. As she was in her late 80's when I learnt that, we decided to leave her alone with her few pleasures in life. Our town had a pet kooka that had beak problems due to only being fed meat. It would be best to check the correct diet for those maggies. Tell the wires mob that they are nicking Brian's food and they won't go off at you for feeding them. Enjoy that trifle. xxxx

I do hope that you have all had some fun and mischief with friends and families, and a great festive celebration for the Christmas season.

Today was very long and a lot of fun. We decided to have our main meal tonight so that most of the family would be with us. Our grandson and girlfriend arrived late afternoon and then the fun started. When i was stuffing the kids stockings, I put a lot of tiny stretchy rubber critters and his nibs was mortified that I was giving these to young adults. hahaha The little kids came out in them all and much terrorising and mischief continued for the rest of the day. Even when our granddaughter's girlfriend arrived around 9pm, due to her family events, the wars resumed and again much mischief ensued. I think it will continue tomorrow and they certainly all had us in stitches with their antics. Always plan for some wickedness for them.
It has been such a cold day with vicious winds that I am glad that it wasn't a super soaker surprise.

we are both exhausted, but it was good fun for all and that's what it's all about.
Night all xxx
