Lucky bugger, we don’t even have one bus!

Do you do residential solar as well? If house doesn’t hurry up and sell we may as well add batteries to our 5kw of panels and sit there forever but with no bills.

We are off to crystal Brook to install a 15.4kWh battery pack and 5kW of solar as a separate off grid system. There is a grid connected system there already but we will not touch that so he should still get the full feed in tariff, just the amount used by the house should reduce meaning he should get a greater income from the system he has now. No doubt the mob paying him money will look for a way out but we have been very careful not to give them any grounds to reduce his feed in tariff. This will be an interesting test case, firstly to see how much it improves his solar connect income and secondly to see how far the electrickery mob are willing to fight, I reckon this bloke will fight them to the very end if they try too hard and that will provide a precedent that can be used in every case afterwards.
The primary reason this system is being installed is to provide a reliable power supply for his fridges and freezers as the power is a tad unreliable out that way.

Haven’t all rebates and feed in tariffs been cancelled by the grubbyment?

We get no power bill, pay in $15 a week and are about $800 in credit but Jock would love to have batteries and ‘snip the wire” so to speak.

It seems to depend on who you are signed up with and when you signed up. Anyone on a good feed in tariff will immediately loose that good rate if the mess with their solar system in any way. So we are looking at fitting a separate system that does not connect to the existing system in any way.
There are some mobs out there now that will act as the generator supplier on your behalf and sell power when the price is high, just the same way as the coal fired generators are doing at the moment. To really cash in on this you need a battery backed solar system that you can afford to sell the battery storage when the price is good without coping an even bigger buy in tariff from your electricity provider to keep the house going.

It depends on which state your in they are all different .
We get 6 cents people up the road get 44 cents they were on before it dropped and before us.
Now the Qld Gov are going to reduce every ones bill by $50 per year...cant wait to get my hands on all that cash .
WE cant add any more solar if we do we loose the 6 cents...that would send me to the wall .
We have 3000 watts .

Oh, we don’t want it so we make money, we want no bills or complete independence. We also have loads of water storage (not that it bloody rains very often 😂 ) and an Ozzie Kleen waste water system that waters some of our 50 odd fruit trees.

At this rate I’ll be taking it off the market, sounds perfect!

Sorry, nothing to do with ‘what I did to my rig today’....
