T1, how long before the supplies can't get through to the supermarkets and grog shops? I not saying start panic buying, but do you have a contingency plan if the need arises. You are going to get a lot of water for quite a while.
The water is backed up to the houses on the river part of Mulwala. It's at least 800 metres through the trees to the normal river bank.

On the news last night the Premier was talking about Mannum being the next "hot spot" they are concentrating efforts in regards to the rising river level ..... so they still remember we are here  Add to that, Mid Murray Council offices are just down the road from the workshop, opposite the OTR fuel station, I doubt the powers that be will allow lack of access to either the Council offices or the OTR ;)

Funny you mention the council. The Corowa Shire offices used to be right up the top of the main drag. A few years ago, they built swisho new offices right down next to the river. They have been closed for a fortnight or so now. I reckon water might have ingressed already. Couldn't get close enough for a photo early in the week. Floodwater to deep.
I hope that your council has learned from the errors of the ones a bit further upstream of you.

The offices are in Mannum but the Mid Murray council area is from the Murray Bridge border up to Swan Reach, Blanchetown and well past Morgan, out past Mt Mary and down to Truro and Tungkillo, so a big area. I doubt they will spend big $$ up along the Murray in the smaller towns, but Mannum is their showcase town so ..... we even have two ferries

The back roads from our house to get to the Sedan Rd are marked on the map, but somehow become the farmers roads so we had to get permission from them to use the part of the road that goes through their property, T&C's apply and only if there is no other possible escape road  The lady that came to tell us what was happening said the farmer would lock the gates if we didn't follow the T&C's ..... probably never heard of battery powered angle grinder ;)

Bruce,
I hope you’ve laid in a supply of sandbags.
Wouldn’t like to see your place flooded… 🤣🙄

Laugh you may, when we travelled down there this morning to pick up Brian (Homeless) quite a few boats had sandbags pilled up on the roadway :? No idea what their plans are, most of the walkways head into the water now and it will only require another few cm rise and the work shed, where the pump out truck lives, will have water at the door or maybe even through the shed as well.
The "Unforgettable"boat hire mob built a workshop base at the end of the road turn around at the marina entrance and it sure looks as though that will be getting it's floors washed soon ...... they tied some of their boats up along the entrance road, but with no bollards behind them, they will be floating onto the road soon and no one will be able to get in or out

Ya gotta wonder who does the thinking for these people, the bollards in front of these boats are really short, so the ropes will float off them as soon as the water rises a bit more ..... then what?

they might be to protect the power poles where the power is still being used. I think he plans to remove the ones not being used at the moment and moving them to higher ground, then get them reinstalled after the water goes down, maybe late Jan to early Feb they are predicting at the moment. During that period we will see extra high levels when the wind blows up stream, even in non flood times it will lift the level by around 1/2 mtr, with so much water predicted to flow through here, that 1/2 mtr might be under estimating it a bit ......
we have no doubt the town will flood, if they stop the ferries as well those on the other side will have quite a drive to the shops ..... especially if the old bridge at Murray Bridge gets closed.

No rain here, strong westerly winds all day, waves with white caps running across the bay, winds have decreased to 9knots, smaller waves now, more winds southwesterlies predicted for tomorrow, not good for bowling. :D
