Keith,
Agree with your mate!
The ABC (which, it seems, now stands for the Aboriginal Broadcasting Corporation) presents the daily news from Bubblegum Country, Agapanthus Country or somesuch.
I have yet to see a road map directing me to any of these… but give it time.
The ABC has also been captioning items on Hobart & Mt Wellington with Aboriginal names preceding the English names. How long do you think it will take before the English names are dropped? It’s already happened to Ayers Rock.
I suspect the Tasmanian thing is a marketing test before adopting the idea Australia-wide.
The boiling frog theory…
Good morning daily

At that age it may take a while for him to learn sign language. First up is that he has to realise and accept that he can't hear you.
You could try one of those ultrasonic dog whistles to attract his attention before you give him signs.
Keith.
I'm now 87 years old, having experienced another birthday, and I'm still living in WA, single (gave up looking), white hair, no teeth, no money, no worries.
I plan to have another birthday next year.

These are my opinions regarding this post:Keith Morris wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 10:22 am Lets see if this email from my Broome mate will start a balanced discussion.
Subject: Australia Day!
When I look and see the list of events WE provide the Aboriginal people every year in this country and all I want is one day to celebrate as an Australian, they are offended by this and say we are being racist towards them and offending their culture.
* Well let me say that I’m offended that they are entitled to 22 days, which is paid for by the Australian taxpayer.
* Let me say that I’m also offended that the Australian taxpayer contributes over $30 billion, YES billion every year through
Centrelink for them.
* Let me say that I'm tired of hearing every day that we invaded this country.
* Let me say that I’m tired of being told that this is their country by the politicians, media and so on, could you please imagine what this country would like.
* I’m totally offended that their is NO recognition of the early settler’s whom came to this country and built the infrastructure that developed it into the powerhouse nation that all people living in this country have benefited from and enjoy the lifestyle that exists today.
* I’m also offended by Welcome to Country ceremonies that are being held every day somewhere in this country, which again is being paid for by the Australian taxpayer.
* I’m also offended that the Australian and State Governments that have forced apon ANZAC DAY this Welcome to Country, if it had not been for our Diggers past and present they would not be in any position to force this on the Australian Military.
I’m also offended that our police forces Australia wide have been placed in a position by the media and State Governments that they are the guilty party if they dare arrest an Aboriginal person.
Last but NOT least we can celebrate in this country Halloween, Chinese New Year and many other cultural events, BUT we are being forced by the Greens, the Left wing politicians, the WOKE society which many are NOT of Aboriginal decent and the media to abandon Australia Day.
It will be a SAD day for this country if it happens and once they have achieved this, THE next plan will be to change the Australian Flag and probably give this country an Aboriginal name
Without the aboriginals that also fort to the death in the same conflict, side by side with the "diggers" I really believe there would be no Anzac Day and we would all be speaking Japanese now ......* I’m also offended that the Australian and State Governments that have forced apon ANZAC DAY this Welcome to Country, if it had not been for our Diggers past and present they would not be in any position to force this on the Australian Military.
That part is easy, we would all speak Japanese, there would be no tribal problems I suspect, their fate would have been the same as the Tasmanian aboriginals, rounded up and either shot or imprisoned where they would have died from diseases they had no immunity against. The rest would be a null argument.* Let me say that I’m tired of being told that this is their country by the politicians, media and so on, could you please imagine what this country would like.
Ummm...... There seem to be a lot of plaques, statues, faces our money, river names and the list goes on that says this bit is B/S designed to stir up crap over something that is actually false.* I’m totally offended that their is NO recognition of the early settler’s whom came to this country and built the infrastructure that developed it into the powerhouse nation that all people living in this country have benefited from and enjoy the lifestyle that exists today.
I can't see Australia Day ever being abandoned, just like the Queens Birthday is not on the date the Queen was born, Christmas Day isn't when the babe was born in Bethlehem, best estimates is it was mid yr, Australia Day being celebrated on 26th January has become the accepted date and it should stay that way.Last but NOT least we can celebrate in this country Halloween, Chinese New Year and many other cultural events, BUT we are being forced by the Greens, the Left wing politicians, the WOKE society which many are NOT of Aboriginal decent and the media to abandon Australia Day.

As far as I see it, Without the Aboriginals support in the fighting forces, simply making statements like this would have had any and all associated up against the wall and shot by what ever country ran the place, it would not have been the British who seem to believe they were born with a birth right superior to anyone else in the world, then that superiority went up yet again depending on the class structure and depth of the family in British society.
Without the cheap labour the Aboriginal workforce supplied up until the govt deemed that should be paid the same as everyone else, most of the major cattle properties would never have happened, a fraction of the prosperity would have been the result and outside companies would have had the $$ to simply buy and control any mining, agricultural and manufacturing in Australia, as an Australian Govt with no $$ would have been weak and easily pushed around, all the money would have gone out of the country with no tax etc paid ....... I'm not sure things are a lot better at the moment to be honest .....
Welcome to Country etc etc ..... I'll reserve my thoughts on that .....

Re: Good morning daily
T1,
Agree that aboriginal soldiers fought in WW2, but I don’t think they were the deciding factor in defeating the Imperial Japanese Army.
I acknowledge that they still serve a valuable role in NorForce. For which I have personally congratulated & thanked representatives we came across at the Darwin WW2 gun emplacement.
It’s all the nonsense from the white aborigines that gets up my nose.
I’d be more supportive of them if they were out working to improve the lives of their brethren in the remote outback camps, rather than jumping up and down about changing the names of things.
