Good morning daily

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

There has been another near-disaster on the South-Eastern Freeway with an out-of-control truck ploughing into an arrester bed.
This is a bit old news Dot. Was it a rerun because not much happens in SA.
You will have to get out on the road and stir things up a bit.
Keith.
I'm now 87 years old, having experienced another birthday, and I'm still living in WA, single (gave up looking), white hair, no teeth, no money, no worries.
I plan to have another birthday next year.

Nup not that one Tanks, this one we saw ourselves today, it was a blue truck :) That road is really good, no reason for those trucks brakes failing IF they use low gear and do the 60kph from just before the start of the decline., there are so many visible signs for them to see. When I go down there in the bus I stay behind a truck doing the right thing plus I love the sound of them. Stop trying to get me into trouble thanks M8, I can do all that by myself.

Morning everyone.
Another day or driving ahead of me today.
O I'll be off as soon as it's light enough...I don't drive in the dark.. especially with the Yarris in tow, it's that low it wouldn't pass over one of Dots rabbits 😁.
Dave and Terry were right it is a RH160.... but don't tell Terry he'll get up me😀😋
Keep safe.
Bernie.
Thanks Dottie.

Good morning everyone, from the Bingara CPk. Phone reception and TV are both good here. It's blue skies today, but we did get a few light showers overnight.
Might catch up with Bernie later on, we're on the same highway, just going the other way.
Safe travels everybody.
Cheers

When we were on our recent trip,( March 2023 with Barossa Valley included ) we came up on a B double coming down the long first incline into Adelaide.
There was smoke coming from every wheel and he was struggling to keep the speed down.
It was a long way to the arrestor bed and I did think he might not make it before the brakes fully failed.
Not a situation I'd like to be in!

Good morning All. I am not getting far with the deck sanding due to the regular rain/drizzle that we are getting. I don't think I will achieve much before heading south at the end of the month.

The catch coming down that hill is the truck needs to come to a near stop to get in the gear that will hold the truck from a run away on that continuous down hill run. It's deceiving because it's not as steep as some, it's just so long without a flat bit so the engine reaches the critical rpm and could even computer up shift for self preservation, beyond the operators control. Trucks with Jacobs engine braking can rely on that to hold them at a steady speed with rare touches on the brakes, an exhaust brake trying to hold a B Double or triple, not a hope.
There is a parking bay before the long down hill run, maybe it should be mandatory for the multiple trailer rigs to pull in there for a 15 min break before tackling the hill.

That one that fell over making the right hand turn in the city was a case of either not enough brakes left or trying to beat the red light, but simply too fast for the high load container and it started from the top front of the trailer and that peeled the whole rig over .... it could have even been poorly loaded, the heavy stuff should be at the bottom and over the rear tri-axle, not the bogie drive wheels of the prime mover. Who knows, maybe that trailer was part of a road train and on a tri-axle dolly, it wouldn't have tipped over like that if there had been enough wheels under it and the progressive turn a dolly provides, maybe the turn table had been shifted since the driver last drove that truck placing the centre of the load too far back .....

I am wondering if the prime mover has enough traction hold back B doubles when in 1st gear or does it still rely on trailer brakes?
Cheers
