We're re-packing Girt after her trip to m/h hospital for a non-functioning a/c... turns out the electronic control board threw a hissy fit, and we couldn't get one in Oz! Had to buy a Chinese copy!
Next Tues we're heading for Sunny Gerringong (near Kiama, for the curious). Friend has an electric mower like ours, & was quoted an eye-watering $600 to replace the battery! Having replaced a battery ourselves, we knew that was price-gouging, so we bought one for $160 from previously-local mower shop when on a recent visit to Melb... then discovered that ALL SIX trucking companies contacted refuse to carry sealed lead-acid batteries as they are classed as "Dangerous Goods" !!! So we're being our own trucking service.
Besides, it's a good excuse to visit friends - along the way as well as in the Vast Metropolis of Gerringong.

I have just reversed the bus out of the driveway and will shortly take it for a test drive. Hopefully, I shall see some improvement in turbo boost and performance after overhaul of the injectors and adjustment of the tappets.

Will advise the results later in the day.

Travelled approx 150km during test, increased revs in 2nd, 3rd and 4th until governor took over, no trouble doing same. Made numerous adjustments to fuel and was able to achieve 6.5- 7 psi of boost albeit with more black smoke than satisfactory (better than the 4.5psi previously achieved). Able to stay with the traffic at 110kph on the freeway and actually achieved 115kph. Definitely performed better than previously but I would still like to be able to get the 12psi of boost that it should achieve.

One thing that has me stumped is that the boost occasionally goes to minus 4psi when off load.

The latest:

Moved boost take-off point from near the turbo to central point on the inlet manifold as it was thought that i may be getting a venturi effect causing the -ve boost.

With fuel adjusted for minimum black smoke and maximum boost, in 4th gear(of 5) at 75kph and approx 2600rpm I am getting 7.5psi of boost, same result in 5th at 95kph. No negative boost and cruising off-load at about 80kph 0-2 psi. At idle the gauge sits on 0.

I don't know what else I can do apart from having the injector pump tested/overhauled but probably not worth the expense. It will be interesting to see what the fuel consumption is.

To add some excitement to my day I ran out of fuel on a short steep hill 500m from home. Thank goodness for the electric fuel pump I installed at the fuel tank, in line with the engine lift pump, some time ago.

Gday after the trouble I had losing a wheel outside of Pt Augusta on our way home from Christmas with family in Katherine I do a service before each trip regardless of the number of ks on the previous trip. I removed all wheels to do the grease up and found the wheel nuts were so tight i had to use a pipe on the wheel brace to loosen them i asked the guys repairing the hub and brakes to repack the other 3 wheels they obviously used a rattle gun to put the wheels on. Also tracked down why fridge wouldnt work on 12v. All good now wires pulled out of plug i mustn't have tightened screws tight enough all good now.

It's hard to believe that so many people still have no idea how to adjust the wheel bearings to avoid failure.
That could have been a real disaster if a couple went outback somewhere!
So? .... getting ready to go again?

Well Bruce tell me what happened
