Dottie,
Doing the British Paints thing…
Been Gardener’s Labourer for the past two months getting the garden ship-shaped and spiffy.
We had an Open Garden on Tuesday. The National Iris Society’s Conference & AGM.
About 30 people rolled up in a 40ft coach. 😳
We were expecting half a dozen or so…
Because of the trees lining our driveway, the coach couldn’t get in (apart from the fact that it would have destroyed our driveway!), so had to drop the people at the street and go down a side street to park. 😁
Much approval noises and compliments forthcoming. Unfortunately the irises bloomed early, and about half were either withered or on the way out. However, the roses were in full bloom!
(Dare I say it?) BLOOMIN’ BEAUTIFUL!!😆
(Couldn’t resist the temptation. 😉)

Now we both have time to relax and rest.
Side issue: To accommodate their BYO afternoon tea, we moved both cars out of the carport. Both cars ended up covered in dust, so I’ve just spent the whole morning washing & vacuuming them.
🥵

ps. President of our local Garden Club was so impressed on a preview visit that she asked if the club members could take advantage of all our work to visit next Tuesday.
So the ride-on mower will have another quick outing on Monday. 🤗

Well done Ray and Joy. :D
As any of our members that have visited Ray and Joy can attest, they have magnificent gardens around the house.
It's a credit to them. :D

Well done guys you deserve all the accolades about the gardens, all the work you both have put into them is humongous.

Some idea of what 11 YEARS of planning and digging looks like:

When we bought the house the front yard consisted of only the trees… and they were sadly neglected.

It certainly has gone ahead in leaps and bounds even since we last saw the grounds. A real credit to you both x

Very nice. A lot of trimming and work to keep it looking nice.

Almost to the point of exhaustion, John!
We’re now in the “Post Exhibition Let-down” phase. 🥵

Took the day off today and went for a long drive in the high country. Visited Bright and Mt Beauty for the first time.
Also tackled a bit of 4WD work up to the Apex Lookout above Bright. Definitely a great workout for the MU-X and 4WD Low Range!! Some climbs at 60deg on loose gravel with eroded wheel ruts. (Channels with high downhill sides, cut across the track to limit erosion. Quite a few times I thought we’d scrape the belly on them, but we didn’t 🤞)
Hill Descent Control got a good workout on the way down, as well.
Bright from above.

The road down. (SWMBO was too busy co-driving on the way up to take photos!) 😉

Information Centre lady grilled me on what vehicle I had before she would show me how to get there. Had to be a high clearance 4WD with Low Range, not an AWD station wagon or the like. I passed the exam. 😁

I enlarged the driving down photo .... you didn't mention putting the Mu-X on the roof ;) Do you reckon Jim the Junior Jeep would tackle it?

We both commented that the trip would have been more fun — and probably easier (even if a bit bouncier) — in Jim!
