Good morning daily

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Happy New Year every one. We stayed up to watch the Syd fireworks on the ABC and the news that covered fireworks else where, in bed by 11:45 but heard the Mannum fireworks going off.
The new yrs resolution was to watch what I eat, just to make sure it isn't moving, then eat it  68 1/2 yrs on this diet and I'm still alive, why change what's worked fine for all these yrs 8-)

Polished off a bottle of Durif to celebrate Ray (and myself) lasting till this New Yrs eve (see, I was thinking of you Ray), usual thing, they claimed there were 9 drinks in the bottle but I only got 3 ... or maybe 4 .... the counting wasn't as good as it was when I started ..... the odd beer or three before the wine might have contributed to the problem .... but I still woke up this morning, so all good :D

Today, I managed to get the top toolbox on the bottom wheeled toolbox, a 1 mtr lift, did it all on my own, well, with the help of the motorbike lift I use to get the inverters in place and eight blocks of wood and an hr or more of shuffling wood blocks till I got it high enough, but it's up there, ready for me to put all the drawers back in and start putting the stuff scattered around back carport and garden shed .... after I've had a rest and a cool drink or three :D

With a smile, I realised this morning, tomorrow, I don't have to face the first day of another 12mths work, then I returned to earth and realised the next 12mths work started today

George,
Instead of using a GPS thing, we have an app on our phones called waze It's kept fairly up to date and it warns us of speed cameras and hazards. If you have someone in the car to view the phone, it's become a life changer for us. It has taken us directly to places and saved us from entering streets that have accident in them. As we are not allowed to look at our phones while driving, I usually use it and give his nibs directions, when he gets lost.
Happy navigating mate.
Deborah

Good morning.
WE had a few showers though the day...then rain for about 3 hours, only light but welcomed. How did you fair David...BoM showed heaps down the Gold Coast.
Now what did I get up to yesterday...I picked up the timber that I had stacked...Must have been the shrinkage plus the rain and wind that caused it to fall a part...couldn't have been my fault   could it :?:
That was about the crucks of the day. I did do other stuff...but not much :D
And look how far into the new year we are...how time flies :?
Keep safe and dry out there.
Bernie.

Good morning everyone, from the rainy GC. We had an extra 40mm or so, that we don't need at the mo'. There are Energex, SES and council crews still trying to get things sorted out around here. They shouldn't have to work in soaking rain, but they are. The weather just won't clear and make everyone's task a bit easier.
I'm off to the airport to pick up my daughter today, she hasn't been up here for a quite a few years. Really looking forward to her visit.
Thanks for that app Deborah.
Safe travels everybody. Have a great day.
Cheers

Deb,

Does Waze work if your location doesn't provide phone or internet coverage?

Hi Deb,is there a cost involved?
I had a quick look at downloading but got myself into a merry go round. I will try again later.

We use Google Maps to get the same result ..... we can mount the phone on the dash so it is clearly visible and the lady on Google talks directly into my hearing aids, so any back ground noise is blocked, beats 6 different sets of directions from everyone in the vehicle, all trying to compete for the job of navigator  Just don't use "quickest route" but rather most direct route using main roads where possible .... nothing like getting to a road just wide enough for a car, and trying to get a 2.5mtr wide bus down it .... only to find a 90* or sharper bend at the end that doesn't allow a long rigid vehicle to negotiate ......

Todays effort is to make a replacement jig for drilling the holes in the stainless strapping to hold the batteries compressed between the 3mm thick aluminium end plates. Need a jig to get the holes consistent, so the strap lengths remain consistent ... sort of .... for some reason there is always one or two that are just too short or a bit long, so they go in the "might fit another job" bundle .... pity I lost all that stuff when they levelled the building ... but that's just the way it goes ...

George and Vic, there is no cost for waze app and yes it seems to work anywhere that we have been. It uses up a fair bit of battery when out bush, so I just plug the phone into the charger after a few hours and we are off and driving.

Do tell if you find out otherwise.
