Good morning daily

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Dot, I took Fred, the lorikeet runner to the vet to have his claws trimmed this morning, it's going to cost me a fortone as they have to knock him out in order to do it. It needed doing as he wasn't able to grip his perch or ladder sufficiently and kept falling off.

When they did my little corellas claws and beak they only gave her the gas mask, covered the cat carrier with plastic bag, put the gas through the bag opening till she was woozie took her out on the table and shoved the mask over the beek did her claws took off the mask and snip snip beak and boom boom all done, she was asleep maybe 5 minutes all up. Cost $35 with her insurance. Go Fred Go x

At one stage I was involved in breeding & selling birds. (parrots, budgies etc)
Very important to have big fat perches so the tips of their claws actually dig into the perch.
I also had a perch wrapped in sand paper for birds to grind their beaks on & also help wear down their claws. (especially for old birds)

Bruce, the perches in the cage are 25mm diameter and roughened. I will give the sandpaper idea some thought.

Good one Peter. Did you end up finding a buyer for your rig?
