Motorhome rally participants hit the road after a good show

A PARADE of happy homes on wheels will hit the Bruce Hwy today after the closing events of the Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia's 2013 rally were held at Maryborough Showgrounds last night.

Rally manager John Hartnet said the 2000 people who had attended the week-long rally had enjoyed themselves immensely during their stay.

"It's been really good," he said.

Member for Maryborough Anne Maddern addressed the group last night as the event came to a close.

The rally was opened to the public on Saturday and thousands came to look at the motorhomes, campervans and the 75 stalls that had been set up, Mr Hartnet said.

The group had come from around Australia, including Victoria, Tasmania and Western Australia, and there were even a few from New Zealand, Mr Hartnet said.

The rally came on top of two other big events, the Ulysses AGM and the 2013 Scout's Jamboree, which were held at the showgrounds earlier this year.

Mr Hartnet said the event would be a huge economic boost for the region.

He said 640 people from the rally had been taken to the Maryborough Markets on Thursday.

"They loved it," he said.

He said he was hopeful the rally would one day return to the Fraser Coast.
